The other night I had a wonderful dream that helped me realize that I was on the right path. The dream began with me standing in front of my house. I was standing there observing everything around me. As I was looking around, I then noticed quite unexpectedly this rather large snake. It was quite large and reminded me of a cobra of some sort. And when I say it was big, it was probable just as big as I was and it looked rather unhappy. The appearance of this snake startled me and I began to back up to get away from it. The further I got the closer the snake came. I again continued to back up but now I realized that the entire side of the street I was standing on was infested with snakes. They were literally everywhere. They were crawling on top of one another slithering over everything. It almost reminded me of the Indiana Jones movie when he jumps down into the tomb and it looks as if the floor is moving because the floor is covered in snakes. This dream was just like that.

Well, all of these snakes crawling all over the place were really freaking me out. I was definitely afraid of them and wanted to get away as quickly as possible. So I decided to fly to the other side of the street to get away from this mess. I am very fortunate that I can fly in my dreams. I absolutely love it. So I decided to jump up into the air and fly across the street to the other side which seemed to be snake free. As I jumped up, I notice three hawks coming down from the sky towards me. One of the hawks landed near the snakes and began pecking at them in order to insure my safe departure. The second hawk was flying right above my right shoulder and was flying with me across this street. The third was higher above keeping watch over me.

Once I flew over the street which funny enough wasn’t all that big, I landed on the other side. I stood there and was amazed to see that there were no snakes over here. What a relief that was. I then saw the hawk which had been on my shoulder and I asked him to land on my arm. So he flew around for a little bit and then decided to land. We stared at one another and spoke to each other, although I don’t really recall what was said. I’m pretty sure I was just thanking him for watching over me and protecting me.

As I switch over to the interpreting mode, I saw this dream as being really positive. The street itself could be a symbol of my spiritual path in life. The side where I started off was my past and the old image of myself which I am currently letting go of and releasing. This side was inhabited by the snakes which were symbols of my fears, illusions, negative thoughts, and limiting beliefs which were the basis of this old image. And it’s no wonder that there were a lot of snakes because God knows there was a lot to let go of.

My desire to jump up and fly over the street shows my intention to separate myself from this past and look to the other side which allows me to focus on who I now choose to become. It is the hope of the future. The process of freeing oneself and opening up to receive the blessings and joy that awaits me on the other side. In this regard, the hawks were a clear symbol of divinity. They represented my divine connection and protection. Through this process God has been with me, watching over me and helping me along. It was the reassurance that I have never been alone and never will be alone. Once I reached the other side, I was able to look over to the other side to see the past and to know where I came from. This perspective allowed me to realize what I had achieved and what I had left behind. The fact that the hawk landed on my arm and we spoke showed that I was now more comfortable with that connection to the divine. That I was allowing that divine energy into my space and was able to communicate openly with it.

The entire dream was like a review of my journey thus far. It showed me the freeing of the past and the hope of the future which was really reassuring. I woke up the next morning with a greater feeling of joy, confidence and a genuine feeling of progress. This is probable exactly what I was looking for in that moment.
