Dear Californian Redwood Enthusiasts,
Only in California can you walk among a grove of ancient redwoods, following a trail to the bank of a mighty river as it flows to the coast. As Californians, we have a responsibility to preserve these forests, streams, and breathtaking coastline for future generations. On November 7th, California voters have the opportunity to further protection of the state’s land, water, and redwood forests by voting on two initiatives of particular importance to redwood conservation.
Please help the Save-the-Redwoods League and its conservation partners to pass Proposition 84 and defeat Proposition 90. By providing a brief overview, with links to more detailed information, we hope you will have the information you need to vote with the redwoods in mind.
Vote YES on Clean Water, Parks & Coastal Protection—$5.4 Billion Conservation and Water Quality Bond
Proposition 84 will provide $5.4 billion to protect California’s lakes, rivers, beaches, coastline, parks and forests.
Public funding has been essential in helping the League to protect more than 170,000 acres of California redwood forest and establish some of its most treasured state parks, including: Jedediah Smith; Prairie Creek; Del Norte Coast; Humboldt Redwoods; Montgomery Woods; and Calaveras Big Trees.
Without Prop 84, state resources for protecting the redwood forest could be depleted as early as this year. You can help Save-the-Redwoods League preserve California’s diverse redwood forests by voting YES on Proposition 84.

Vote NO on Prop 90—The Most Significant Threat to the Redwood Forest in Years
Although we are reluctant to endorse any political position other than park and land conservation bonds, we believe that Prop 90 poses a great threat to redwood protection.
While touted as an eminent domain issue, Prop 90 contains far-reaching provisions that allow virtually anyone to sue, claiming a new law or regulation has impacted the value of their property or business. If it passes, the negative impacts to the redwood forest will be substantial and long-lived.
The Save-the-Redwoods League has joined a coalition of more than 200 groups and more than 20 major daily newspapers in opposing this measure. These organizations opposing the measure include the California Taxpayers Association, the National Wildlife Federation, League of Women Voters, Small Business Owners, and the League of Homeowners.
