We are pleased to announce that as of today, 185 companies have signed the Compact for Safe Cosmetics!  These companies have pledged not to use chemicals that are known or strongly suspected of causing cancer, mutation or birth defects in their products and to implement substitution plans that replace hazardous materials with safer alternatives in every market they serve.

Unfortunately, several major cosmetics companies, including Avon, Estee Lauder, L'Oreal, Revlon, Proctor & Gamble and Unilever have thus far refused to sign the Compact for Safe Cosmetics.

Latest Biomonitoring Report

The Center for Disease Control recently released The Third National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals, which summarized 2400 people’s chemical body burden—or level of chemicals present in a person’s blood or urine. These tests assess the presence of 148 different chemicals people are exposed to in their everyday life.  Results indicate that measuring the presence of chemicals in people’s bodies can provide important information about the effect toxins have on human health.
