Real Wealth not a matter of $$ by munificent .....

I've just finished a book entitled The Soul of Money, I highly reccommend it for everyone..It explores this same topic Money and our behaviors with money and many more in depth

Last week in this section, I asked the question:

'Do you expect to be wealthy ¯ why or why not?'

This elicited more response than any of our previous surveys. You all obviously have a lot of strong feelings about wealth. Many of you clarified that it’s the “love of money,” not money itself, that the Bible says is the root of all evil. Some of you still did say money is the root of all evil. Please send what you have my way as I will be happy to handle your share. Many, many of you wrote wonderful descriptions of what you consider true “wealth.”

A very small sampling of your answers are below. (Incidentally, many of you write personal notes to me in your comments. Unfortunately, our survey system shows your comments but doesn’t capture your email address; thus I am unable to answer directly.)

Below are the results you gave us, in order of importance.

Survey results:
1. Yes, because I’m doing what I love doing and know it will pay off. - (33%)
2. Yes, I’m already well on my way to extraordinary wealth. - (26.9%)
3. No, I’ve never been lucky and what I’m doing now sure won’t make me wealthy. - (19.3%)
4. No, being wealthy is not important to me. - (16.8%)
5. No, I’m afraid if I were wealthy I would lose my sense of priorities. - (3.5%)
6. Yes, I keep buying lottery tickets and know I’ll be lucky soon. - (1.7%)
7. I’m convinced money is the root of all evil ¯ spare me. - (1.2%)

Here are some of your great comments:

Because of the 'holes' in our financial management being closed up one by one by you and Dave Ramsey's principles, I plan to get some good retirement in place in the next 15 years. THANK YOU BOTH!

Actually, I truly believe I'm an Eagle, but I've become so attached to the Turkeys who've fed me and loved me during my rough times, it would feel as if I were being disloyal to take to the skies in the ways that would eventually make me wealthy, at least wealthy by Turkey standards!

I'm afraid I have developed something of a 'flea mentality' and don't really believe that more than a meager existence is available.

I'm still looking for a rich husband.

Although I'm not concerned about being wealthy via money, I am already extremely wealthy with spiritual blessings, wisdom and knowledge...which are worth far more than money!

I'd like to be; but no matter what I try, it seems to fail. It seems to be getting worse - not better.

I've been an idiot with money when I did have it (or the opportunity to have it) and I seemed to have placed myself in some kind of punishment mode box because of that lunacy and I haven't dug out yet.

I am wealthy. My husband & I are in love. My life overflows with family & friends. I have good health. I look forward to going to work every day. I have room to grow at work and make more money. God has blessed me with a wonderful life... that is 'wealthy' to me.

At first I didn't see the need to be wealthy because I'm making enough to live comfortably. But I've come to realize that the more I make, the more I have to give away. My goal is to live on 10% and give away 90%. So I say, bring on the wealth!

Real wealth is not a matter of money, but a matter of the heart and spirit. Look at the faces of the children in the poorest nations and you see smiles. They have wealth we know little about.

God has already increased my income by having me go out on my own as an independent contractor. He has tripled my income and it just keeps getting better!

My wife is fatalistic, and goes through our money faster than I earn it.

Money is only the means to support family and having wealth in most cases causes corruption. I am 48 divorced twice from 'Christian' women and my kids are grown. Life for me is just waiting to see what I get hit with next.
