This is a piece of my history, on my road of life....  With the advent of the New Year; one chapter ended while another began...  And so it is with all life; it has been said   " The the only thing that does not change is GOD and change itself... "

So true!!  Life is a constant change, ready or not....  DUH!

Well part of the change in my life began years ago, when I was a teen ager...  I had always known about cars, as I had helped my uncles work on them in my single digit years...  I even remember one of my uncles taking me on a drive in south Georgia, and then asking if I had ever gone really fast.... This was before my young mind ever conceived of such an idea as speed...  Then he opened up on a stretch of hi way, running 90 MPH....  Little did I know where this would lead me, in the years to come ....

There was another incident, along that time... I was in the second grade;  I would go out to watch and help my other uncle work on his car, out in the yard at Granddaddy's house.... Well he was under the car making some repairs when the jack holding the car, started to fell over....  He called out to me, to help and I ran and grabbed the car, pushing back on the bumper jack, so that it would not fall over...   This allowed my uncle to roll out from under the car, and not be crushed, or injured....

Most of my knowledge of automobiles came from hands on....  BTW: On the Job Training or OJT; has proven to be one of my best teachers in this life....  Books and courses are great, but nothing really gives you the experience and training as does OJT....  So this is how I became a car buff....  Some what of a Hot Rodder...

I had learned to drive tractors, and my Granddaddy's cars and trucks starting at the age of 12 or so....  Yes and all of this before seat belts and insurance...  So by the time I was 16, I was ready to have my very own car...  Well my step father, told me " You get it, you pay for it, and you fix it, so don't come bother me about it...."  That was the start of my own adventure with cars...

Well, the first car I got did last even a month, so it was replaced with another flat head six, fluid drive model....  It was not fast, or great looking, but it was a set of wheels...  Maybe that is why I did not have any girl friends, did not have a fancy car, or lots of money....  My brother (18 months younger) and I finally got some freedom from my step father... {The step father part is another story, for another time...}  We could drive to HS. and not have to ride bikes as I had for over two years....   We had ridden longer than that, but was not counting grade school and Jr High....

BTW: I have always liked bikes, and had two motorcycles, and still own a Mountain bike to this day...  Life is what you make of it....

Be back later...   K
