How Feeling Overwhelmed Blocks Abundance...
The topic of "overwhelm" seems to be on my clients' minds this holiday season. While the New Year has officially started, many people feel stressed out and overwhelmed rather than refreshed and renewed. In this newsletter, I want to INSPIRE you to take care of yourself so you don't become overwhelmed again...and again...and again...
What causes us to become overwhelmed? Sometimes basic anxiety overwhelms us; sometimes feeling overwhelmed is from a simple math problem...we have too much to do in too few hours, and other times, we feel overwhelmed and stuck when we feel inadequate as a result of comparing ourselves to others. (Of course there are outside influences like a death in the family that could kick you into this state as well, but we are talking about the overwhelmed feelings we contribute to and can do something about.)
No matter where it comes from, feeling overwhelmed will INHIBIT your ability to attract your desires right now, so hopefully the tapping suggestions below will help clear it out.
Unfortunately, we are often unaware that we are heading for the overwhelmed department until we arrive, so we need tools to prevent it, recognize it if it starts, turn the corner, and undo it.
The signs I get that tell me I have entered the overwhelmed zone and am ignoring the signals is when I start dropping things! Fortunately, this is a sign that I can't avoid noticing. I drop the toothpaste, spill my breakfast, drop my keys more than once etc. It is very annoying, but it definitely gets my attention. Other classic signs of being and feeling overwhelmed are:
1) No sense of humor
2) Irritability
3) Ineffectiveness throughout your day
4) Lack of enthusiasm
5) Uncharacteristic feelings of depression or inadequacy
And more...
Ask yourself when you felt this coming on and whether you consciously ignored it or not. Did you feel some of these symptoms, know you were burying yourself under too much work or too many family obligations around the holidays and yet you said "yes" anyway? We must take care of ourselves before we get overwhelmed, and if we have passed the point of no return, we must learn how to soothe ourselves back into a strong, healthy place.
