Symbolic Sight
By Ayal Hurst
SYMBOLIC SIGHT is a way of learning to shift how we see - to learn to see from mystical eyes, rather than ordinary, day-to-day eyes. It is a way to see symbolically what is really going on behind the events, relationships, and experiences of our lives. It is a way of ultimately seeing, in effect, the lesson being offered us at any given moment, through whatever is happening, whether that comes in the form of a leaf falling in front of you, issues in a relationship, or a particular part of your car breaking down. When we see life in this manner, we are able to grasp the Power Energy behind the scenes and get to a magical, Higher Truth, one that is detached from - and beyond - our own cultural forms and beliefs.
Symbolic sight is the ability to use your intuition to interpret these power symbols that appear in your life. Because of this, it allows you to see into your spirit and offers a wealth of information, a deeper understanding, of yourself, other people, and life events - in terms of Universal archetypal patterns. We come to recognize and understand that visible bodies are only symbols of invisible forces. All things are connected and have significance. We cannot separate the spiritual from the physical, the visible from the invisible. Symbolic sight senses the connections between all living energy systems. It is a way of understanding the extraordinary world that lies behind our eyes. Symbolic sight helps us to pry aside the obstacles which hide the Unknown, the Divine Mystery, from view. When we use symbolic sight, we are actually seeing Divine Power in action.
In the past, shamans, priests, and priestesses were the keepers of the sacred knowledge of life. These individuals were tied to the rhythms and forces of Nature. They were capable of walking the invisible threads that link the visible and invisible worlds. They helped people remember that all trees are Divine and that all animals, experiences, and events speak to those who listen.
Archetypal powers reside behind and oversee all of life's manifestations. These archetypes have their own qualities and characteristics and are deeply reflected, as well, through the behavior and activities of animals and other aspects of Nature. When we pay attention to and acknowledge an animal sighting, or totem, for example, we are honoring and deciphering the actual, archetypal essence that lies behind it. We can then use this to understand our own life circumstances more clearly as we open to and attune ourselves to that essence. We can, in effect, share in its power, or "medicine." Nature totems, specifically animals, are symbols of specific kinds of energy we are manifesting and aligning with in our lives. The animal becomes a specific force of the invisible, spiritual realm manifesting within our own life. The characteristics and activities of these totems will reveal much about our own innate powers and abilities, or it could reveal qualities we need to learn to incorporate within ourselves. By studying the totem and then learning to merge with it, we are able to call upon its archetypal energy whenever needed.
When you look at any event in your life with symbolic sight, you attain a way to discover and diagnose (evaluate intuitively) what is actually going on in your inner being - in your life and in your body. You can see how challenges, or blessings in your life relate to the 7 power centers, or chakras, of the body. To do this, you must think of yourself as an ENERGY BEING as well as a physical one. The human energy system is made up of 7 power centers, or chakras, and each deals with a Universal Truth, a Divine quality or aspect of ourselves we must master on or journey to become enlightened. The chakra system is actually a blueprint of Godlike qualities which begins at the base of the spine and ascends to reach the crown of the head, an image of a spiritual ladder, or pathway to the Divine. When it says that we are "Created in the image of God" I think this is what it means. When our chakras are healthy, perfectly aligned, and in harmony with Divine Law, when we have learned and mastered the truth inherent in each chakra, we ascend, like Jacob climbing the ladder to heaven, and reach our own spiritual enlightenment.
Part of being able to develop symbolic sight is becoming less caught up in the drama of our lives and developing a keen level of observation - noticing where you have a personal agenda, noticing where you are wanting to see things in a particular way. This interferes with your reception of energy information. Developing the impersonal mind is a lifelong task - it takes us into the depths of all of our deepest illusions and fears. As we undertake this journey, and begin to view our lives symbolically, our being gets reconstructed from the inside out. When a person seeks to see more, healing is inevitable, for it allows one to see and tap into one's spirit - that limitless potential for healing and wholeness. Developing symbolic sight enhances your intuitive ability, your own intuitive voice and internal clarity, because it gives you a healthy objectivity. It allows you to consciously manage your energy and power. It allows you to manage your own spirit.
How to develop symbolic sight?
Make self evaluation a habit. Bring your attention every day to the challenges you face and how your mind and spirit respond to them. Evaluate the people, experiences, and information you manifest in your life. Realize that everything that comes into your life does not come by chance, but is a mirror or reflection of your life. Your biography (all that is recorded in your being) becomes your biology. All that is experienced and recorded energetically in your being makes up your health. It transforms into your physical make up.
Observe what causes you to lose power - and where you feel the loss. Consistently do a self scanning of your chakras: Reflect on each power center for a minute or two in a quiet, objective way. This is attending to the health of your energy system and can prevent illness. Learn to sense the stress accumulating in your energy field, and take the steps necessary to heal yourself at the energy level. When you discover an energy leak, focus on only the essentials that can help you recover your energy. Always address the question: "Why am I losing power?" Refer to the 7 Truths found in the chakra system...
The Universal Truths of the Chakras:
1st chakra: All is One
2nd chakra: Honor One Another
3rd chakra: Honor Oneself
4th chakra: Love is Divine Power
5th chakra: Surrender Personal Will to Divine Will
6th chakra: Seek Only the Truth
7th chakra: Live in the Present Moment
One or more of these Truths will be involved in your stressful situation. Ask yourself: "Which of those Truths is being symbolically represented here?" Learn the power lesson that situation holds for you. Learn what rather than who draws power from you. The person who seems to be drawing your energy is actually only a reflection of some part of yourself: they are representing, in symbolic form, the shadow side of your nature being reflected back to you. See the lesson rather than the messenger. Then you will recognize the truth being delivered to you.
Evaluate the spiritual and biological activity that occurs as a consequence of your loss of power. Illness is a power disorder - like a technical malfunction (a software glitch in the computer). Then organize your healing around learning from the Truth of that power center. When you can see the events and people, situations and manifestations in your life as symbols, symbols that are showing you something about yourself, you are well on your way to a higher level of understanding. Just as our dreams hold symbols for us of our waking lives, symbols that can be used to heal and understand our psyches, so too, the waking world is like a dream. It is more conscious and clearer, perhaps, than a dream, but the same format applies. Everything in it is a symbol showing you the developmental evolution of your soul and your psyche. And, just as you are the Creator of your own dreams at night, so, too, are you the Creator of your own Life Dream, creating in it symbols to help you see yourself and the Divine Mystery that you truly are.
