*As "The Midtown Connection" goes to press, we, as a spiritual community are searching for ways to support all of those who have been affected by the hurricane in the Gulf states. You can participate in two ways: this coming Sunday, 9/4, Practitioner Phil Dietz will lead a prayer circle from 10:00-10:15 AM in the prayer center; also, we will collect donations to the American Red Cross in the community room after services.

The theme for September at Midtown is Our Soul's Awakening. And how appropriate that we celebrate our soul's awakening this month with a variety of learning opportunities to inspire us! Also, toward the end of the month, we'll be celebrating in a special way our 4th Anniversary as a spiritual community. (Details below)

Come and feel the awakening of your soul this month at either the 9 AM or 10:30 AM services. Rev. Kevin Bucy begins the messages on 9/4 with The Journey Begins. On 9/11, Rev. Kevin continues with The Risk of Becoming; and on 9/18 Angela Geary speaks on Who Have We Become. To complete the month on our Anniversary weekend 9/25, Rev. Kevin speaks on Celebrating Who We Are.

The Sunday Service music will open your heart and awaken your soul as well. For the 10:30 AM services, Sonny Sampson sings on both 9/4 and 9/18; Margaret Owens joins us on 9/11; and the fabulous Global Heart Choir returns on 9/25.

Foundational Class - Two Offerings!

There are two opportunities to take the Foundational Class at Midtown this fall! On Thursday evenings, beginning 9/8, Rev. Kevin Bucy teaches this powerful, entry level Science of Mind Class. And on Saturday mornings, beginning 9/10, Sarah Hans, RScP, leads another class through the basic principles of our teaching.
Come and explore the basic concepts of Science of Mind and how to apply them for a life changing experience -- transform your life, heal past issues, and create the life you want!

The Foundational Class is a pre-requisite for all certificated UCRS classes.

Spiritual Economics

Explore the Real world of money and spirituality. Manage the laws of circulation in practical ways that make your life really work for you. This class is based on the fascinating book, Spiritual Economics, by Eric Butterworth, and includes lively discussion and exercises.
Spiritual Economics begins Tuesday evenings 9/13 and is taught by Jerry Fetterly, RScP.

Mind Body Connection

Discover the important role consciousness plays in the healing process. You'll explore the emotional issues surrounding the physical body and unlearn old concepts of disease.
If you are a student desiring a deeper understanding of physical healing, then this is the class for you! (Foundational Class is a pre-requisite for those wanting credit towards the Practitioner Track).

Mind Body Connection begins 9/14 on Wednesday evenings, led by Angela Geary, RScP.

New Member Class

An enjoyable and interactive class that explores what membership means at Midtown. This two-evening class is required to become a member.
The New Member Class meets Tuesday evenings, 9/13 and 9/20, and is taught by Senior Minister, Rev. Kevin Bucy.

Essence of Science of Mind

Essence of SOM is a one-evening introduction to basic ideas of our teaching. The class includes a brief history, as well as how the creative process works and the elements of spiritual mind treatment.

Visioning Workshop

This is your opportunity to be a part of creating the direction of our spiritual community in 2006! Church members and interested congregants are invited to participate in Midtown's 2006 Visioning Workshop.
Come share lunch, learn about the visioning process, AND join us in catching Spirit's Vision for Midtown in 2006.

During our 10:30 AM service, we celebrate our newest members to Midtown, as well as a recommittment by all to the vision of Midtown. Following second service, we're having a gala lunch for everyone, complete with dancin' and CD spinin' by our D.J. Steve!



SoulVoice in Concert!

Mark your calendars for Sunday evening 10/2 at Midtown Church! You won't want to miss this evening of music and beautiful harmonies with the debut concert of the SoulVoice Quartet. Val Cooper, Susie Hall, Claudia Previn-Stasny and Trish Marr share their amazing voices with all of us.
And to make this evening even more extraordinary, the $25 ticket price includes a certificate for a free CD-SoulVoice's eagerly anticipated first--to be released in February 2006. Your concert attendance supports the recording and production of SoulVoice's first album. $15 tickets are also available without the free CD offer. The concert begins at 7:00 PM, in the Midtown Church sanctuary. Tickets are available from the Church office, SoulVoice members, or at the door.

9th-Soul Voice Is Hot- we are a small church, maybe 200-250 members but the talent inside this organization is unbelieveably HUGE. The reason we have such an outpouring of community talent and love is that SOM encourages everyone to express their Godselves fully! We are here for a reason we come jam packed with talent. It is nutured and revered at Midtown- I can't wait for this performance. I have heard everyone of these women sing individually and together, so much moving power -it brought tears to my eyes!
