Kidz, Kids, Music of the 60's played by kids from the 90's. Perfect-

Just got home from the most cool charitable event to support music in Point Loma School District- I mean it was great to see all ages of kid's up there drumming, electric guitars, singing-Rock and Roll-
Cream, Jimmie Hendrix, Rolling Stones- watching them play out their fantasies and their egos...then after a song or two- letting their artiface down and beaming with the joy of rockin'-Yea Baby! Cut Loose!
Some kids were only 7 years old with electric guitars almost as big as them-others were age 11 and already accomplished musicians. We, the audience, sang Satisfaction, while Glen Fisher (THE music teacher and impressario) and one little guy whaled out the cords on an electric guitar, and Ed Fletcher (Oh la la) was on drums. Ummmm Boy-was he cute! Youngish! So I will take my mind out of the erogenous zones, and head for higher ground!
And MY favorite part, there were little, little brothers and sisters- Babies 1 and 2 year olds that Mom and Dad brought to watch their older siblings! One little girl baby, who was being carried in her mother's arms stuck out her finger and pointed at me...I reached up from my chair and touched her finger to mine-we both got a "kick" out of the fun and contact. Her Mom stopped awhile and she and I laughed and smiled at each other.... Precious!
There was another really "round" little girl, maybe a year -18 months, who was sitting on her Mom's lap, when the music was really rocking, she climbed down, hung on to the arm of the chair and began to do this bounce up and down boogie, while holding on to the chair- she was a 'beginner' walker, but an accomplished bouncer! It was hilarious to watch, I had so much fun wtahing her "bouncing" on those sturdy little legs. I clapped as she danced, she began clapping her little hands and 'ompapaed' up and down-her sturdy little legs pumping until her exuberance almost knocked her off balance (wild woman) she almost fell- she clamped back onto that chair! So So Sweet. I miss babies!
My buddy's son debuted his band that night. It was original music and lyrics, the amps, while decent, were cranked up on the electric guitars, and not on the lyrics/voice....But it WAS their first gig/debut! Teenage Boys - a compendium of metallic vibrations! A little unnerving in pure volume.
I always enjoy myself when I join my buddy in supporting Glen and his talented grownup hosts. I think they come play for free - for the joy of the music and the kids.
This gig was at Red Sails Inn, on Shelter Island - It was out on the patio and the little brothers and sisters were running 'Helter Skelter' around while the older kids played and sang. I had a great time, I wish I had a couple more kids-I must be losing my mind! Ah well, easy to wish for harder to do!
That would require the King of Kings!
