Life As We Know It by Ready2Rapture .....

It isn't just the US that's going down

Jesus said,

Luke 17:22 ...“The days are coming when you will desire to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. 17:23 Then people will say to you, ‘Look, there he is!’ or ‘Look, here he is!’ Do not go out or chase after them. 17:24 For just like the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day.

17:25 BUT FIRST he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.

17:26 Just as it was in the days of Noah, so too it will be in the days of the Son of Man. 17:27 People were eating, they were drinking, they were marrying, they were being given in marriage—right up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. 17:28 Likewise, just as it was in the days of Lot, people were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building; 17:29 but on the day Lot went out from Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all."
When you consider the global chaos of Revelation (see earlier blog entries), it's hard to imagine life going on as usual when He comes for us. Considering also the writings of Paul about His coming (again, already covered in this blog), we know that this "coming" has two stages: one where Jesus comes for his Bride, the Church, to take her to the "wedding feast" in heaven, and another to subdue the earth. According to Jewish tradition, the groom took his bride to his father's house for the first 7 days of their marriage, a feast of celebration. It would be unthinkable for the groom to instead forget the honeymoon and drag his bride immediately off to war!

So the Rapture happens first, where the Groom meets us his Bride "in the air" to take us to his Father's house (heaven). This corresponds to the 7 years of Tribulation on earth. As of the present, life is still going on as usual, albeit with a lot more stress now. There is still normalcy amid turmoil. But all that is about to change.

Once the Tribulation begins there will be no more business as usual. There will be no marrying, planting, buying and selling as it has always been. The judgments of the seals, trumpets, and bowls are going to make those things impossible. Yet the Bible also says He will come down to the earth in the midst of global war, bringing the armies of heaven with him. So for Jesus to come at a time "like the days of Noah" or Lot and yet also when all semblance of normality is gone means he will come twice.

I have long believed that we who believe would be brought up to the very brink of disaster before the Rapture would happen. Before 9/11 and Katrina, who could have imagined the demise of the US so quickly? We see that the government had already prepared "compounds" out west for no apparent reason, but now we see that they are prepared to imprison the masses who will revolt when national martial law is imposed. New Orleans was just a trial run. The UN is drooling, smelling blood in the water.

But for those who would gloat over our demise, know that when the US falls the whole world will go down with it. Economists have been saying that the world's economy is being carried by US consumers, especially the housing market, a bubble which is about to burst.

Oil does more than fuel transportation. Read this excerpt from another message board:
... petrochemicals are key components to much more than just the gas in your car. As geologist Dale Allen Pfeiffer points out in his article entitled, "Eating Fossil Fuels"? approximately 10 calories of fossil fuels are required to produce every 1 calorie of food eaten in the US.

The size of this ratio stems from the fact that every step of modern food production is fossil fuel and petrochemical powered:

1. Pesticides are made from oil;

2. Commercial fertilizers are made from ammonia, which is made from natural gas, which is also about to peak.

3. Farming implements such as tractors and trailers are constructed and powered using oil;

4. Food distribution networks are entirely dependant on oil. In the US, the average piece of food is transported 1,500 miles before it gets to your plate;

In short, people gobble oil like two-legged SUVs.

It's not just transportation and agriculture that are entirely dependent on abundant, cheap oil. Modern medicine, water distribution, and national defense are each entirely powered by oil and petroleum derived chemicals.

Most of the consumer goods you buy are made with plastic, which is derived from oil.

All manufacturing processes consume voracious amounts of oil. For instance, the average car - including hybrids - consumes the energy contained in 25-50 barrels (or about 1,200-2,400 gallons) of oil during its construction, while the average computer consumes 10 times its weight in fossil fuels during its construction.

All electrical devices - including solar panels and windmills - make use of silver, copper, and/or platinum, all of which are discovered, extracted, transported, and fashioned using oil-powered machinery.

Nuclear energy requires uranium, which is also discovered, extracted, and transported using oil-powered machinery. Nuclear power plants also consume a tremendous amount of oil during their initial construction and continued maintenance.

Most importantly, the modern banking and international monetary system is entirely dependent on a constantly increasing supply of oil.

So there must be a "coming" of Jesus while people can still go about their lives, however less technologically than now. But when the global economy crashes, people will riot and martial law will be enforced. The US will be another third world nation.

Will believers see it this far? Depends on where the line is drawn on "buying and selling and planting". But there's a lot of significance in the Jewish feasts regarding the end times:
