When non-Christians tell Christians how to act like Christians, they act just like the Christians who are not acting like Christians!

Why is it that people who despise the Bible and Christianity feel the need to tell us how we're supposed to act? They have no clue. They make up Christian behavior rules of their own and then criticize us for not following them! If we acted the way they think we should, we'd be between a rock and a hard place, because if we're too different they say "Who wants to live like that?" but if we're too much the same as them they say "Why become a Christian?"
Instead of trying to please people who will condemn us no matter what we do or don't do, let's let God define our behavior, and He says "Be like Jesus". So what was Jesus like?
He was kind and gentle to the humble, but harsh and blunt with the proud. He brought the Good News to the dregs of society, but called the religious elite hypocrites and vipers. He washed the feet of those who called him Lord, but overturned the tables of those who treated him like a commodity to be marketed. Jesus was no doormat, and he didn't concern himself with getting along with everyone. He spoke the truth without regard for his audience, as even his bitterest enemies admitted.
We're here to preach the gospel without compromise, without fear, without hesitation. The message is that Jesus died for everyone and so everyone can be saved, by putting their trust in him alone. That is a message of love. On the other hand, when we get fearful of negative reactions and water down the gospel to "let Jesus touch you and you will have peace", we are not being loving at all, for we are simply making the lost feel good about their lost condition. The dead need to be born again, not made to look natural!
What message are you sending? Do people know why they need a Savior, or do you make them feel comfortable about their dead spirituality? Just plant the seeds and let the soil react as it will. Some will despise us for preaching the Truth, but that's not our concern. We are to please our Master above all, even our own "score sheet".
