Sat Nam,

Going back to an earlier post on this topic (my apoplogies I am really far behind on my email reading!)......retreating from the world is a normal step in developing one's soul consciousness.

First we are very much out in the world and much of our energy is dispersed outwards into the physical world....then we begin to find a path of some kind that gives us some technique (KY for example) for beginning to draw that energy back (withdrawl of the senses)...we begin to refine the senses and understand more the subtlety of things and at this point we begin to work alot deeper with transforming in our consciousness's what keeps us from deeply knowing ourselves (Sat Nam our true identity).

So withdrawing from the world, as you know it, is required to begin the breaking down of that which is not of your true nature....then eventually as that process completes and you begin to know (deep in your fiber, kind of know) who you are.....then you re-emerge (re-born) into the world once again and begin to share your light for the benefit of all beings.
