The Story of My Mezuzah by Ren .....

Before I decided to go back to christianity, I investigated a number of religions. I was a witch for a very long time. It was very hard for me to maintain the practice because I was solitary. Many of my fellow witches were intolerant of my non-witch beliefs and looked down on me because I wasn't a feminist witch. Oh well...anyway, I investigated judaism on my own and I never really got into it because Long Island was just horribly materialistic. Jew meant being a rich, bitchy bitch who enjoyed long summers in travel camp. Plus I was an additional oddity not being white because it seems as no Jew on LI ever saw pics of Israelis before :( I still have a fascination with Jewish culture and religious practice. It was fate I would rescue a mezuzah from the basement junk drawer. I don't know how it it got there. I know I have it and when the basement is done, I'm going to have the priest come over and bless our home and I'll read the mezuzah blessing. I'm glad I woke up in such a good mood today.

The most comprehensive explanation:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mezuzah

And here's a snippet from the internet:

Write them [God's laws] on the doorposts [Mezuzahs] of your house." Deut. 6:9.

A mezuzah is mounted on the doorpost as God commanded. It bears a "Shin," the first Hebrew letter in the word Shaddai (Almighty). Hebrew scriptures to place inside the mezuzah and mounting instructions are included. Made in Israel.
