Sliding Scale Food? @Whole Foods Market? by YourEnchantedGardener .....
Whole Foods Market sells some of the last Real Food on Planet Earth for our Region. What if they had a sliding scale for how much customers paid as a way to Cultivate Food Justice? Be sure to come out the the
Whole Foods Hillcrest Local
foods and Vendors day April 14
11 AM- 3 PM next Saturday.
711 University Avenue, San Diego,
92113.
Joe the Farmer and I will be there
and so will the EG Mobile!!!!
___
I had a delightful time yesterday
at Whole Foods Market Hillcrest
on Easter Sunday.
I spend about two hours there,
and much of it in front of the bakery counter
where Jill on shift was service out Gelato,
Capachino, and various baked goods.
I ate my share of samples of the Gelato,
and had a ball giving samples away of the Joe the Farmer
fresh picked that day strawberries that will be coming
into the store early this week for the first time this season.
I gave away about four baskets worth that Jill washed
for me.

"Dear Joe,
Love those Strawberries.
Can't wait to have them @ Whole Foods.

These are what stawberries
are suppose to taste like!

(Bakery)
Dear Joe,
I had the wonderful pleasure of meeting
Leslie. Yes, I am truly supportive of your cause!
--Abdul Sdhokur,
artist and shopper
Let's get locally grown
strawberries into the Ciao Bella
Gelato and Sorbet sold at Whole Foods!
--Jill
Also: blood Oranges!!!

I had Joe's fresh picked that morning strawberries
in my shopping cart as I was doing my own
shopping. I felt like the Easter bunny.
The strawberries were bright red and large.
Some of the customers, seeing me handing them out,
started to oogle in. Their eyes opened wide!
They were so appreciate when I told them
that the berries were coming. I gave each
a copy of the San Diego Earth Times with our
full page ad.
I told everyone to go to
http://www.csgn.org
right now and then tell their
local principal to fill out the paperwork
right now so their schools can get in on the
$5000.00 the Gov is giving away until April 20
to any school that asks for a garden or garden improvement!!!
Torrie Crocker of Curezone, made my trip to Whole Foods Market
possible.
She met me at the Farmers' Market earlier in the day and then we went
to WFM, and back home here to the Enchanted Garden Intentional Community
(EGIC).
The EG Mobile is still in the paint shop getting all prettied
up for her Earth Fair Debute as part of the "Sign a Love Letter to Joe/
Plant Your Dream" Exhibit, April 22.
We are located in Area 7N Pan Am Plaze North, right off
adjacent to the Children's Area. Walk down President's Way North.
We are in the Ehome area, which is just where we belong.
Our Booth Ad was paid for by Whole Foods Market and cost
around $600.00. Thank you so very much Whole Foods Mazket!!!!!
Love you, Marci Frumkin, head of marketing for our
region, and Michael Besancon, my favorite Avocado Sandwich Maker,
who happens to be President of the
Southwest Region for Whole Foods Market.
Ray Kau, Hillcrest store marketing manager, and
Joelle Atencio, signmaker, also deserve thanks for a beautiful
ad. I worked hard on the words with Ray both for the story
that came out in the Earth Times, as well as the Ad words.
My Super Ripe Photos of a berry and Joe the Farmer are in the ad.
Our beautiful ad--a full page--is featured in the San Diego
Earth Times Newspaper. 25,000 copies will be in circulation by
the end of Earth Fair, the largest Earth Day in the country.
I am looking to upload that ad again...as soon
as our Upload Gallery is functional again here on Curezone.
We had a crash April 1 and are still recovering parts of
the #2 Alternative Health site where I am the #1 Blog.
So back to the point!
They have these wonderful Gift Cards at WFM.
You can get one for any amount, or $5.00, $10.00, $100.00 etc.
That's a great idea. I love to buy them and give them
to friends.
Now, here's another idea:
I know that Team Members get a discount because they work at the store.
Everyone knows that Whole Foods Market is very expensive
for many people.
The folks at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM)
call it "Whole Pay Check!"
but what if...
There was a Sliding Scale for Food at Whole Foods Market?????
I mean, as Your Enchanted Gardener, I would love to be given
so many Gift Carts that I could give away to outstanding
citizens of our San Diego Community.
I would give some to my favorite TCM practitioners at PCOM.
I would give them to some of my great housemates for Going
beyond the Call of Duty when they garden here for Mother Earth.
We could give some to people like Jim Bell, who is always running
for Mayor of San Diego with his message of Sustainable Living.
I would give a gift card to Carolyn Chase, head of Earth Fair,
and one to Chris Klein, who did a really great job finding
me the perfect spot for the EG Mobile April 22.
Then I would give one to David S. Cohen, who also works for
The San Diego Earth Works. He picked me up at the house
Sunday morning and delivered me to the FM. What a joy to know
this being of light and magic!!!!!!!! I love this guy!!!
Let's see...hmm....
I would give one to Makeda Dread, my wife.
We have the perfect relationship.
Yesterday I lent her $5.00 at the FM when her assistant
walked off. She came over. She was so cute. I never saw her
act that way!!!! She was like a little girl, asking daddy for $5.00
so she could give it to Joe the Farmer.
Makada has a fabulous Radio Program each sunday night on 91X.
She is going to put on a major fundraising concert for Joe the Farmer
at his farm sometime tenatively in October. We want to raise $4 Million
so he can buy back the 100 acre farm that he now leases the last three
years.
Joe also wants to start a school at the Rodriguez Farm to train the
next generation of Farmers.
Look at Willie Nelson and Farm Aid!!! Makade in my Choice
always for San Diego Woman of the Year!!!
Gosh, have you visited her website for the World Beat Center????
http://www.worldbeatcenter.org/
She does so much good. and we have the Ultimate Perfect Marriage:
We just say hello at the FM, share our love,
and go about our important schedules. What a joy to
be called her husband, and she doesn't mind if I have other wifes,
as long as she is the only "Black" one. You got it, sweetheart,
you are the best!
Makeda was the one who brought the chocolate for me when
I got in a jam with the ladies at the International Feng Shui
Conference in Aug 05.
I had promised chocolate as one of the desserts that
were part of our three days of locally grown lunches.
The chocolate Mousse never showed up
in the locally grown lunch meals when Sunday's menu was switched to Monday.
I had the leading Feng Shui experts of the world really pissed at me!!!
One woman said, "Promising chocolate to a woman and then not delivering
is worse that saying you want to make love and then backing out!!!!'
Ouch!!! Ouch!!! Ouch!!!!
Thank God, Makeda came to the rescue...
One sponsor gave $100.00. Makeda then went down to Whole Foods Hillcrest
and came back to the Closing Ceremony with a bag full!
I was redeemed.
Well that my story--
Whole Food Market has a Sliding Scale for food,
via Gift Cards they and Your Enchanted Gardener gives away!!!
I am going to kick this off...at Earth Day...
Each person who helps us Kick off the Rodriguez Ranch Buy Back--
this involves signing A Love Letter to Joe the Farmer"
Will have an opportunity to Plant Your Dream!
Then, you get a chance to receive fabulous donated products...
some valued at $100.00's.
The prizes will include Gift Cards for Whole Foods Market!!!!
Wow!!! Isn't that a Pip of an Idea!!!!!!!!!
I better talk to Marci and Michael right now!!!
Whole Food Market Gift Cards to worthy
Citizens giving Service...
and to some Lucky Dream Planters at Earth Day...
That is what I call Cultivating Food Justice!!!!
