The people I am going to contact about the school gardens are: Mike Rood, Principal at Twain HS, and Richard Nash, Vice Principal at Madison HS.

That's a nice story. Is it another page in your book? Another page in your life? I plan to call more schools next week, when they come back from spring break, to encourage them to apply for the school garden grants, but I think it's important to remember that it takes community (more than money) to grow a garden. With community involvement-- a community of students, teachers, staff, parents, local businesses and organizations-- gardens (and communities) can grow and thrive. Money helps, but it is only one element in the complex mix that makes for fertile ground.
