There was a lovely man,
a very sweet shy spiritually devout man
at the Kabbalah Conference
that I was drawn to very much.

This was surprising.
This was very healing.

He was a Black hat,
one of those Hassid looking Rabbi types
that generally have my inner child running the other way.

They can be quite fundamentalist.
What makes this all very interesting is that
my sister Vivian has four kids and the eldest
girl married into such an Ultra Hassidic branch
of Hungarian Judaism. That niece of mine
has no less that seven little sweet kids running
heither and yon. The boys all have black hats
and long hair off the ear.

This sweet man at the Kabbalah Conference.
At first I was scared of him. I always feel that
are going to make judgements on me, or
look down at me, as if they have the Right Way
and I am Dead Wrong.

I was taking photos at the conference.
I was sitting at one point about two feet
from this man.

He was studying his Holy Text while
Michael Berg of the Kabbalah Center was
speaking. I do not believe he was being disrespectful.
He was just in another world.

When this Black Hat Rabbi spoke,
his mouth opened and he devotion
and innocence poured forth. Some of the things
he said were pure poetry. His body swayed.

He spoke of the Kabbalah as if it were the bride of God,
and bedroom teachings, that were very intimate.

I would have to listen again to really be able to communicate
what he said.

He was deeply engrossed not only in his Holy Book,
but in the Rosemary that I brought and distributed throughout
the Conference.

He has a place in Canada where they do teachings of
the Ba'al Shem Tov. More on this later.

The Ba'al Shem Tov was a man who prayed in nature.

I showed him my book and placed it on top of his holy book.
He read a poem or two.

That felt nice to have his eyes on "Rekindling of Faith,:"
my book.

he kept going off with that piece of aromatic rosemary.

I kept passing a note page back and forth in dialogue.

What do you feel from this herb, I wrote.

He responded"

"It's for me the smell of deep deep Spring in
Eretz Yisrael--a lot of childhood memories."

I took some wonderful photos of him.
He said I could use one here.
He had no ego, in the way that most of us have ego,
as far as I could see.

Before we left that day,
he gave me a kiss on my face.

The whole meeting was one of the sweeting
healings for me. My inner child liked him by
the time we parted.
