Yesod: Foundation,
Kabbalah Deck card pulled
just now.
___

Reflections on December 19
late, written this early morning.

Emerging Friend Yakov
is making generous conversation
at a time when he could use some extra
Angel Arms to hold up his limbs,
or maybe toothpicks to
hold up his eyelids.
I am not sure how sleepy he is,
but he is definitely very tired.

It is after the Kabbalah Conference
down at the Mancheste Grand Hyatt
here in San Diego. The majority of attendees
have left. Those who may be overnight guests
are likely sleeping.

It is after 11 at night.
I am being generous with Yakov too,
lending my arms to help my carry the Tiferet Sign
up to the 24th floor, and a bag of books on the
science of Kaballah.

He is really tired, maybe the jelly donut he ate--
a Chanukah ritual, isn't working in the favor
of his blood sugar at this late hour.

"Have you ever been married?"
He asks, as part of our getting to know one another
with some caring cordial smooze.

"No," I say.

He scans me with that familiar look I know
among the Jewish Devout who most assuredly
understand but may not say that God deeply celebrates
the communion of man and woman in matrimony.

I let him know I wasn't looking, or in need.

"I have a 'Girlfriend,'" I say
realizing in the back of my mind that
Twin Soul/Best Friend would likely barf
with my choice of the "G" word.
Our "relationship" is not conventional.

"She makes me crazy," I say

"Crazy in a good way!" he says.

"Yes! Yes!" I say.
and then philosophize without explaining...

"She does what a woman is intended to do..
she triggers me constantly...
bringing up all I need to see to be the
best possible me."

[Isn't that what God asks of Woman?]

This morning, my mind is filled with Millons
of Sparks and Healing Thoughts. I have been
Receiving since before dawn on a multitude
of inspirations in between minor headache.

My thoughts turn to Twin Soul/Best Friend.

My eyes water up,
freeing up some backed up emotions
that have been on my mind RE: Her.

Then I feel this burst of Love,
and tell myself my Truth:

I am head over heals in love.

I will not call Twin Soul/Best Friend today.

I am also feeling a burst of love for me too.
I need today to write and for me.

Look forward to seeing her Sunday eve,
if she is still Open.

Shekhinah and sexua| Union

The boldest description of the Shekhinah as the feminine
aspect of Divinity are those concerning the sexua| union,
or, more accurately, the sacred union in which she engages
with the masculine aspect of Divinity. This sacred, erotic
union is the perfect harmony of the divine realm that draws
down divine energy into the cosmos. The most powerful images
of unity and oneness are reserved for these erotic descriptions
of the divine male and female. The Zohar provides a good sample:

"Come see, behold it is said:
The process of uniting everything as One, how does it transpire?
Behold, it is said: He uncovered His holy arm; this is the one
arm upon which salvation depends, upon which redemption depends
[based on Exodus 6:6] And why? In order to lift uip Knesset Yisrael
from the dust, receive her, and couple as one. And when
this arousal to receive occurs, how much awe imbues the world!
And then he lays his arm under her head to unite as you say
(Song of Songs 2:6] 'His left arm (which symbolizes Din; that is,
judgment] under my head; etc' Then judgment [of the world] is set
aside and sins are pardoned..

"Next the right arm (which symbolizes Hesed; that is, loving kindness
comes to embrace. Then jubilation saturates the world and all faces beam.
Afterwards their bodies unite and all becomes one, inseparable,
which is the perfection of everything, universal joy! And then
are surely bound in a manner not found at other times" (Vol 3. 214b)

Human sexuality can model the divine image of union described in the Zohar.
As with all other activities, our kavana (consciousness) affects
the degree of holiness we may attain. At the same time, Kabbalists
see all our our actions as affecting the upper worlds, which in turn
may enhance or constrict the flow of divine energy into this world.
The more our consciousness and behavior strive for union and holiness,
the more we bring that into the world.

ESSENTIAL:

The Hebrew word for "woman" is "ishad" (spelled aleph, shin, hey) and "ish"
means "man" (aleph, yud, shin). Each word has a letter from the divine
name Yah (yud, hey) in it. Remove those letters and you have the word
"esh" (aleph, shin) which means "fire.": including those letters not only
illustrates the passion; but the spiritual intensity of union.

The Shekhinah ultimately animates all of Creation. There is a spark
of the Skekhinah in every living entity. We can find that spark, which
is our gateway to the Imanent and Transcendent One, by going inside ourselves or by encountering that divine spark in anyone or anything else we encounter.

Very Impressed with this book by Mark Elber.
Love the layouts. Very accessible.
Sending it to Twin Soul/Best Friend
as a Chanukah gift.
