There is a story about the Essenes
that Dr. Jensen told.
He said that when a child was born
they planted a tree, and one for each
year of his birth. by the time the child
was 18, his inheritance was a grove of
trees that had grown up from birthday's.
I feel we are missing the mark
with buying Christmas Trees.
I would like to see cut trees fall out of
grace, Christmas be an Arbor day for trees,
a time when we each buy one and then,
as a new year ritual, plant a living tree.

When guests show up for our Holiday party
today at four, we will be taking a trip out near the
compost pile where we will each be invited
to hug a 35 foot pine tree.
The tree was my live Christmas Tree when I first
moved into the house here around 1982.
I was inspired to do this little tree hugging ritual
thanks to Rachel, the daughter of my favorite writer,
Liora Leah.
We are going to have an open mic following a ritual
scheduled after drumming.
So, I am printing Rachel's story about a Christmas Tree
and we are going to read it!
Then, everyone is going to be invited to make a comment
on Liora Leah's Blog to Rachel.
What kind thing did you do this Christmas for a young person?
I know Rachel is at the tender young age when positive
feedback means a lot, so feel free to read her story
on make a comment too!!!!!
Love from your Enchanted Gardener,
Leslie
