Visited Pepboys tonight,
Manny, Joe, and Jack's place.
Didn't see them, just some other fellows
who called me Boss.

The place smelled auto parts
and rubber, as might be expected
in this day and age.

brought in the old battery jumper,
hoping for some lost plug, a weird
thing you can stick into the hole
in the jumper and the other end has two prongs
to get into the AC.

The old jumper cost around $60.00 plus in 98
but wasn't made to last this long with or without
the plug, the company tells me. They will send me
a replacement plug for this old antiquated model
for $35.00 but a whole new jumper is only $99.00.
I guess this old one can go to the landfill.

First I buy some cables.
I wonder if there is a difference between the 12 foot
model, and the 16 ft model or the 20 foot model.
I wonder if another car will be able to get intimate
enough to connect our positives and negatives with only
12 foot.

Then, I go out and eat something at the EG Mobile.
I have to think this one out, should I get a new Jumper,
or just buy the missing plug? This old one isn't made to last
this long anyway, the lady tells me.

Pulled the EG Mobile into the service bay to see if
the $37.95 model will reach into the battery. It does.
I bought one, but on the way home stopped at Radio Shack
to see if they had a plug that would fit the old one.

They had something, but the price was $40.00 and the man
wasn't sure if it would be too hot.

Reading the instructions now to the Vector
Start-it Compact Elite (TM)
Jump-start system.

they are in Ft. Launderdale, Fl, but I wonder if
this is made in China.

Looking over the Manual of Instructions:

#11 seems vital:
Always disconnect the negative (black) jumper cable first followed
by the positive (red) jumper cable.

Always disconnect the negative (black FIRST.

Attach Red first????...check...

In the Eg Mobile, the Red one is toward the back side...the black
toward the front.

#2, always use protective clothing and eyewear when using this product,
contact with battery acid may cause blindness.

Wow!

#12, Never all red and black clamps to touch each other or another common metal
conductor--this could cause damage to the unit and/or creat sparking/explosion.

#14, Do not smoke, use matches or cigarette lighters while working on a vehicle's
battery system.

No problem with that one.

Important:

...unit is delivered in a partially-charged state....you must
fully charge it will the supplied 120 volt AC charger for a full 24 hours
before using it for the first time. You cannot overcharge the unit
using the AC Charger method.

Good.

cautions:

1) Do not recharge for more than 3-4 hours maximum using 12 volt DC.
Recharge after each use.

2) All ON/OFF swithces should be in the OFF position when the unit
is charging or not in use.

4) Do not use with any appliance that draw ore than 12 amps.
Only use with 12 volt system...not 6 or 24 volt system.

8) Excessive engine cranking can damage the starter motor...
If the engine fails to start after the recommended number of attempts,
discontinue jump-start....look for problem elsewhere.

13) Make sure out of the way of moving parts.

INTRO

Keep at full charge...
Recharge before first use,
after each use,
and every six months if not used.
Otherwise reduces battery life dramatically.

Congratulations! This is a good product.
