In search of Sister Sarita, now called Mother Sarita, the mother of Don Miguel Ruiz who wrote "The Four Agreements."

When I knew her in the 80's
she appeared to be a very old woman.
She has been coming into my mind lately,
especially with the passing of Harpo.

I missed his last years.
I did the same thing with my very own mother.
I stayed away the last six months,
not so much by choice.
Maybe they thought they were protecting me.

I feel now that contact with elders in their
last years is important.

I lost two recently that were very important to me.
One was Leonard Richardson, a very special
man. I had been feeling me calling out to me.
Then, I stopped by the farm where he lived
for over 70 years in Escondido. He had died
a few months ago.

Then, last week, I heard that Harpo had passed.
Harpo, one of my three spiritual fathers.
I was out of touch.

Sister Sarita, we called her back then.
She would likely be more than 100.
For this web site, I see she was doing her work
about one year ago at this time.

She had so much love for me.
She spoke Spanish, no English,
she never wanted to speak English.
She is the mother of Don Miguel who
became well known and wrote the book
"The Four Agreements."

I knew Don Miquel from a distance
and was closer to his brother they called Hymie.
I would see him down at the place in Logan Heights.
Then later, I would do some things with Sister Sarita.
She also honored me. She always saw my Soul
and something special in me.

I hope she is still in the body.
I want to find her, to see her,
to see her eye light up.

I need that experience now with an elder
from the past
someone I have not missed seeing before
they went out.
