Located on a desolate stretch of Kettner Boulevard
beneath 1-5 and seemlngly far awa from Gaslamp
schlock lies the Kava Lounge, a refuge from glitzy
pretentiousness, While out-of-towners and new transplants
might not recognize the location, the lounge is sitting
on historic grounds--the lastest incarnation of a nighttime venue
that has housed the original Casbah, as well as the
Pirates Den, Local Twelve, the Crow b ar and Velvet.

Thus longtime locals know the spot, but never has it been
as unique as the Kava Lounge.

Earthly vibrations emaate from the wood interior to the exotic
lighting. while the music and ambiance
found at the Kava Lounge certainly set it apart, perhaps its most
unique offering among the local nightlife are the drinks
on hand.

All 10 beers are local, juices and mixers are organic
and vegan, as is its wine, port, mead and
champaign offered.

Cocktails are sake-based
and made with fresh fruit.
For those not seeking an inebriated buzz,
the bar also offers non-alcoholic raw, restorative
elixirs and organic teas and coffees,
but speaking of the music, there's several different
nights, hhip hop, neo-jazz, smooth groves, drum in basss,
deep house and various world music can be found
throughout the week.

So stop in for a change of pace.
Kava lounge rewares those taking a break
from the conventions of downtown nightlife
with mellow vibes, premium drinks and
