Subject: Sunday - A Meeting With Bo Lozoff

LEARNING TO „SUFFER GRACEFULLY‰ AND HOW TO
GROAN GOOD-NATUREDLY
A Practical Guide to Living in a Difficult World

Sunday March 19, 2006. 2pm-4pm. Bard Hall, First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego, 4190 Front Street, San Diego, CA 92103 (Hillcrest area).
Bo Lozoff, award winning author of the internationally acclaimed, We‚re All Doing Time, is speaking in San Diego. He is the founder of the life-changing Prison Ashram Project: a program he started with spiritual teacher Ram Dass more than twenty-five years ago that encourages prisoners and prison staff to recognize their depth as human beings, to behave accordingly and use prison as an ashram, Sanskrit for Œhouse of God.‚ The remarkable success of this project led to the creation of the Human Kindness Foundation, a non-profit organization based in rural North Carolina that promotes simple living, dedication to service and commitment to personal spiritual practice. In 1999 Lozoff received and honorary doctorate degree from one of the oldest and most respected divinity schools in the nation, the Chicago Theological Seminary. Bo and his wife, Sita also received the prestigious Temple Award for Creative Altruism from the Institute for Noetic Sciences.
Lozoff is fiercely non-commercial and his public talks are always free, relying on local support and affectionate generosity. Admired by the Dalai Lama as a respected teacher and listed by Fred (Mr.) Rogers as one of his heroes, Lozoff and his wife of 40 years continue their work with prisoners and parolees to rebuild lives. His public speaking topics range from biodiesel fuel alternatives to child-raising, spiritual activism to education, community, politics and the importance of yoga and meditation.
This event is free. Parking is free. A love donation is welcome. Please contact Jim Cook for further information or visit Bo‚s website at http://www.humankindness.org.
