This Conference offers a scholarship. I wrote something today that can be the beginning of an entry. Sharing what I wrote with you.

In this early morning
I am filled with words
and vision of things to say
that delight and uplift my spirit.
I am one with all things.
Daylight comes. My heart sinks.
I will not be met in this world
today by anything so beautiful.
I feel jagged edges
as I recall things I must
do that open cracks.
Some call this split being BiPolar.
I should be so lucky to only be split in two.
For me, my Cracks are raw Creative Madness;
showing me places where the Soul dwells hidden inside
asking that I do my part to reveal our entire world
as an Enchanted Garden.

On the way into surgery for Hip Revisions in 2001, I pitched a poem called "Soul Mates,” one of The Seven Love Cures. Each nurse, each person who prepped me heard a few lines: "It helps knowing I'm in it for the growth, my growth. I know my life is about my soul, and how my soul gains through knowing you."
The Seven Love Cures are words that men need to hear
and women want to know. Each time we increase understanding between one man and one woman, we are taking organic steps toward the Enchanted Garden. The Enchanted Garden is a name for our renewed earth that is so very possible to bring here to earthone dream and one organic step at a time.
Creating the Enchanted Garden is my passion. It is my art. It is the driving impulse that saves me in the moments when I do feel saved. Without the vision of the garden, without the organic props of seeds and out-of-the-box foods grown my local farmers I love, I am a lost person in this world. I succumb to fears and depression. I am manic. I suffer and forget constantly that there is a spark of divinity inside me that I call my Soul. With the tools of the garden, through my poetry, photography and ability to write and inspire, I become Your Enchanted Gardener, painting with my organic props the world I see inside.
The Earth--this beautiful Earth and my Soul are Soil mates.
I know this. Every time I turn my camera lens toward a flower, or something that is organically growing, I feel better. I know what it is to be inspired by the art that is life. I know what it is to be uplifted; constantly and perennially as one of these flowers. Do you know why I like to take photos? It is because I can show you how beautiful you are and how speechless I feel in your beauty. You are art, and I see you.
In rare and special moments--Life and everything that is alive in this universe, comes together in me. I start “firing” on all cylinders and more
cylinders that most people have ever seem in motion. It happens for me at conferences my entire adult life. I am now 58.
At Conferences, I read my poetry, and guide opening and closing ceremonies, I am empowered when I hear audiences repeat The Seven Love Cures. They come up to me with tears in their eyes and gratitude.
They want to tell me they appreciate the Enchanted Garden Installations that for many years I have created in these settings. With the help of others, I go beyond my physical limits and direct these installations. In August 05, at the Hilton San Diego Resort, more than 400 attendees at the International Feng Shui Conference had the opportunity to enter a 20 x30 sacred space that rose up from what was a day before a cement floor covered by a rug. They witnessed the Enchantment of breathing in aromatic herbs and fragrances.
They were asked to stretch out on a cushion, close their eyes, hear The Seven Love Cures, and then see the words combined with Photography when they opened their eyes. At that conference, I brought out a gallery exhibit of my photos, I helped with PR, I organized organic lunches, taught two classes, and lead the opening and closing ceremony. In the center of this enchanted garden oasis, attendees found baskets of seeds. They found paperwork that said, "Today I am planting My Dream. Today I am Planting a Beautiful Tomorrow." They were asked to tear open the packages. They were asked to empower the seeds to grow their dreams, and write out what they would be celebrating one year from now. What is most amazing, is that I do not understand how I did all that. In normal circumstances, I am more hermit-like than outgoing. I can be overcome with aches and pain, poor digestion, and a lifelong arthritic condition. I cringe in relationships. I have all the patterns that are called codependency, and yet in the mind of many I am among the World’s Greatest Lovers through the eloquent words and soul inspired wisdom that as well can pour out of me.; When I went into the hospital in 2001 and 2003, I set an intention to create a Healing Haven. I called this Art Project “Getting Hip.”. My intention was that through my Getting Hip, Medicine would have the opportunity to "Get Hip" to being all it could be.
Every time I see my surgeon, a world class artist in his own right, I give him one of The Seven Love Cures. I heard him once say, "Leslie, really does understand women. Other doctors call my poetry "Alimony Insurance!"
So how might attending this Conference further my career?
My deepest sadness and concern is that reams and notebooks of wall to wall writings, that libraries might one day call literature, will never see the light of day. I feel the work I have produced, and the talents I bring to the conference setting would be greatly appreciated by this conference. Attending this
this event would be the best way to become familiar with this most remarkable conference. I would like to present here in future conferences. l would like to be exposed to the speakers. It is good that we plant some seeds together, hear The Seven Love Cures, and experience this alter Ego of mine, Your Enchanted Gardener.
I write from stuck bones and for the broken dreams that will not give up. I write for the hopeless imaginings of a teenager at 17 stepping into a storefront, wearing a suit and tie, asking for a job, and feeling completely lost. I write from the viewpoint of knowing the knife of surgery, and the gift of nurses touch, who come on day's off to speak of their marriage, knit and drink herbal tea. I know what it is to be moved by muses, to know the power in friendship that inspires the next sentence. I am here to say, there is something deep inside each person that is art--that is mean to take on life in the world so that this world can be a more beautiful place.
An artistry was made in heaven,
a pattern set in a field beyond mind
in a realm called the Enchanted Garden.
A perfect production, it dropped to earth
and smashed into many pieces
for its own good growth.
We are each the pieces and now we are putting
that artistry back together,
allowing the beautiful here where we are.
