Zarathrustra and the King
from "The Book of Asha:"
I am touched
deeply by a story I first
read in a book by Edmond
Boredeaux Szekely.
It told the story of
a culture that became
Edenlike and rich in natural
farming practices
as its king opened to the
wisdom in a tiny seed.
Much of my own life
has been inspired by that
little story of a
wise man
who gave the King a wheat
seed. The king
was in turmoil with questions of
self identify. He was having tumultuous dreams.
The King came to the wisest man
in the neighborhood and asked for wisdom,
and the wise man gave the king a single wheat
seed, telling him that it contained
the answers he needed to know.
We are each that King and we are
each that prophet.
We are each that seed,
and we are the wisdom contained
in a single seed.
“If you watch the growth of this seed...
you will find that there is an indestructible and mysterious power in it--the power of life.
If you watch long enough,
you will see that the grain disappears
and is replaced by a plant
which will triumph over
all obstacles and opposition--
which will grow higher and higher
and higher because it has life within it.”
