If you were here
on Christmas eve,
we would listen to spiritual Lessons.
We would lay in bed and light candles.

I would give you space to tell me
all the reasons you felt like being alone tonight
and all the hurts you've had from Christmas past
growing up in this world that screws up
the deepest meaning of all religions
and makes most of have bad feelings about the Holidays.

I might touch your body if you felt like
it, or just wear white robes and let you
lie on the girl side of the bed.

And if perchance in the middle of the night,
you had a change of mind and wanted
to be close, the greatest words I would
like to hear, is when you go out of your mind
and start saying, "Oh, God. Oh, God!"
I feel so good.

The older I get, the less, I too feel like
going out on nights like these.

I want to go in, and if perchance
you feel like it, go in with you.
