I heard about this PEACE EVENT first
at the Evening of Magic and Love
at Sarina's House Wed where I was reading
some of the Seven Love Cures and we were
hearing some beautiful music.

Bo Bebo was talking about it.
I wanted more info, and called her for it.

Then I saw this on the site of Liora Leah
with all the links and details.

The event is this Saturday in LA.

I feel good energy around this event.

I am going to see how to work out the logistics
so I can be here.

I have not met Thich Nat Hahn before.

This is a good opportunity.

DEER PARK MONASTERY ANNOUNCES RENOWNED PEACEMAKER THICH NHAT HANH WILL LEAD A SILENT PEACE WALK TO PROMOTE HEALING IN AMERICA

LOS ANGELES, CA - SEPTEMBER 20 - As America struggles with its suffering, poverty, and racial and religious tensions, renowned peacemaker Thich Nhat Hanh will lead a mindful, silent peace walk Oct. 8th in Los Angeles to support the country's healing. (www.peaceiseverystep.net)

"You are invited to come and walk peacefully," says Thich Nhat Hanh. "We shall walk in such a way that each step we make becomes a realization of peace; each step becomes a prayer for peace and harmony. Children will join us and we shall walk together in silence, with no banners and no pickets. The walk will not be a petition addressed to anyone, nor will it be a demonstration against anyone. The walk is to unite our heart, to nurture our togetherness and to dissipate fear and separation."

Thich Nhat Hanh is revered as one of the greatest peacemakers of our times. He was nominated by Martin Luther King, Jr. for the Nobel Peace Prize and has been a Buddhist monk, peace activist and advocate of love and forgiveness since the age of 16. He has survived persecution, three wars, and 40 years of exile from his native Vietnam. Earlier this year the Vietnamese government allowed Thich Nhat Hanh to return to Vietnam.

"If you are a Buddhist, please come", says Hanh. "If you are a Christian, please come. If you are Jewish, Muslim, or belong to or identify with any other religious creed or peace organization, please come. If you are white, brown, black, yellow, red or any other color, please come."

Thich Nhat Hanh, who is the author of more than 100 books, says, "We shall learn together that wrong perceptions of self and others are at the foundation of separation, fear, hate, and violence, and that togetherness and collaboration are possible. Let us begin anew in our country by listening deeply to each other. Let us also begin anew in the world community by listening deeply and taking care of each other as one family and ending war."

Thich Nhat Hanh will be joined by the monks and nuns of Deer Park Monastery and Plum Village, France.

FROM NORTH of LOS ANGELES:

From I-5 SOUTH, take CA-170 SOUTH toward HOLLYWOOD.

Merge onto US-101 SOUTH.

Take the CA-2 EAST / ALVARADO STREET exit.

Turn SOUTH (RIGHT) onto N. ALVARADO STREET.

Turn WEST (RIGHT) onto W. 6TH STREET.

MACARTHUR PARK will be on your SOUTH (LEFT).



FROM SOUTH of LOS ANGELES.:

From I-5 NORTH, merge onto US-101 N via the exit on the LEFT toward LOS ANGELES / CIVIC CENTER.

Take the CA-2 / ALVARADO STREET exit.

Turn SOUTH (LEFT) onto N. ALVARADO STREET / CA-2.

Turn WEST (RIGHT) onto W. 6TH STREET.

MACARTHUR PARK will be on your SOUTH (LEFT).



FROM EAST of LOS ANGELES:

Take I-10 WEST, toward LOS ANGELES.

I-10 W becomes US-101 N.

Take the CA-2 / ALVARADO STREET exit.

Turn WEST (RIGHT) onto W. 6TH STREET.

PARKING for the Peace Walk:


Parking will be a concern for those planning on attending the Peace Walk. Carpools and use of the MetroRail are highly recommended. MacArthur Park has no parking lot. East of the park is retail/commercial but there is very little parking. North and South of the park is residential and there is very little parking. Here are some suggestions:

1. There is some metered street parking (2 hour maximum) available west of the park on Park View, Carondelet and Coronado between Sixth and Wilshire and Wilshire and Seventh.

2. There is a Standard Parking covered parking structure with entrances on the west side of Carondelet just south of Wilshire and the east side Coronado just south of Wilshire. It has a capacity of about 450 cars and will charge a flat rate of $5.

3. There is an Athena Parking covered parking structure with an entrance at 623 S. Carondelet (west side of Carondelet just south of Sixth Street). It has a capacity of about 250 cars and will charge a flat rate of $5.

4. There is a small parking lot at the St. Nicholas Cathedral. The entrance to the parking lot is on Fourth Street, just west of Grandview. It has a capacity of 36 spaces and will charge a flat rate of $5.

5. There is a parking lot at the St Vincent Medical Center, 2131 West Third Street. The entrance is on the north side of Third Street just west of Alvarado. The maximum charge is $5.

6. There is a covered parking structure for the St. Vincent Medical Professional Building at 201 S. Alvarado. The entrance is on the west side of Alvarado, just south of Valley Street which is one block south of Beverly Blvd. The lot will be open in the morning but will close at 4:30 pm. There will be no attendant at this lot.
