The High Holidays are ten Days of Awe that begin October 3. It begins with what is called the Rosh Hashanan, the Birthday of the Universe.

Well it is almost the High Holidays,
those wonderful times of natural occurrence
when the Mother Earth starts feeling her
Fall energies.

The Jewish people were once very
earthy horn loving people and had all kinds
of natural rituals, some that
that Enchanted Gardeners
still practice, and other Mother Earth loving types.

I celebrate each year
with the Mystical Kabbalist types
who are part of the B'nai Horin Community.
They meet on a mountaintop in Simi Valley
called the Brandeis Bardin Retreat Center.

The High Holidays as celebrated by B'nai Horin
are like a personal growth workshop.

Anyone can attend. You do not have to
be circumcised. They do not check this at the door.

There is a lot of Goddess energy at the High Holidays
and chanting, and singing, and honoring, and loving,
and wise thoughts. Lots of music and drumming.

We all write out our New Life Scripts for the Year.

i do a class with the kids.
Last year we planted barley together.

This year I will plant barley again...
and do some other kid things.

Maybe we will make Job's Tears necklaces.
or a Sacred Challah.

One of the activities will be making drums.

The Shofar is a rams horn.
I usually prepare it from time to time
in a special ritual that empowers it
with the feminine juices.

My father used to soak his in water
to get it ready.

blowing the Ram's horn--called the Shofar
is to Awaken us. The horn blows to announce
the coming of the Messiah.

Are you the ONE?
Some believe the Messiah came once.
Others believe HE is coming again.
I believe the Messiah is in All of us,
and its through how we treat each other
that the Messiah can find a place among us.

I read some of The Seven Love Cures
as part of the service.

I once read My Goddess Prayer for You,
one of the seven Love Cures.

A woman heard me, and invited me to
be part of her family as a result.

That woman is Rina, who leads the
children's program for the High Holidays.
