"On this day, the great Mountain of the male and female began its trembling.
readying itself for total and complete transformation as we purify and become

Barley, one of the seven plants of Israel, was once used literally in the days of the Holy Temple
to Count the Omer. When the Temple was destroyed, the Jewish people stopped literally counting the Barley Omer.

On May 21, Netzach in Yesod of the Omer Countdown,
The Elijah Minyan, one of San Diego's Jewish
Renewal Communities, held services in the outdoor Healing Temple at the Enchanted Garden
Intentional Community, in San Diego. The Parsha of the day was on agriculture.

This Barley grain was seeded in little pots by the children of the B'nai Horin Community of
Los Angeles on the Rosh Hashana., and Blessed by Reb Zalman Shalomi Schacter on the Second day of Rosh Hashana. The Seedlings were empowered on the Bima at Yom Kippur by Rabbi Stan Levy
who was inspired to see that within the short time between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur
the grains had turned into green grass. "Wouldn't be be something if we could all grow that fast?"
he said.

The Barley was transplanted into a large pot on Succot.
The official harvest was on this day, May 21.

Rabbi Wayne Dosick harvested the first grains.
Each person received some of the grains
and said a prayer connecting their own deepest seed dreams with the seeds.

It was a very deep Shabbat in the Garden.
It felt like Elijah was hovering over us
through the Canopy of Trees.

Leslie said, " I return to you something lost.
Something that is yours. Something
that you forget. Now the Temple can be restored.
The Temple in these times begins
with our body."

Ariella Shira will bring the Barley to the Kallah,
the national gathering of Jewish
renewal Communities this summer.

Any community or individual who would like Barley grains may request them from
Your Enchanted Gardener. Please send a stamped Self Addressed envelope.
A donation would be appreciated to further this Enchanted Garden Project
to restore the literal Omer to the Jewish People.
