Shopping on Friday...attempting to get things done before leaving.

Date:   4/22/2005 11:38:45 PM ( 19 y ago)

More things that I can do before leaving tomorrow for LA
for a week of Passover including a retreat.
It is around 9:10 PM Friday night.
I am suppose to head out in the morning.

I love my Essene Spirituality that pretty much
would allow me to enjoy
Easter dinner with my former Catholic Pagan Beloved
next day lunch with my
Orthodox Jewish father, and mystical kabbalistic encounters
with my Renewal family for dinner.

This late afternoon
I went to the Farmers' Market in La Mesa right before closing time

Phily Phil saw me from a distance and yelled "hello!"
"We're keeping it open for you," he said.
"Want your usual $5.00 of avocados?" said Steve.
I did. Phily said that Steve had been asking about me.
I have been out of town for a number of weeks
and everybody missed me.

Then Phily gave me about $5.00 worth of tangerines for $2.00
and Steve loaded on a bunch of free oranges.

Gil was closing up. I wanted to reload flowers and organic food for the trip.

I was still feeling disconcerted that I could not find:

1. my favorite wooden spoon.
2. by backup wooden spoon.
3. The only two favorite glasses that I use daily.

Omens to be sure that I interpreted as saying slow down.

I was also concerned that I could not
get my valves adjusted. When I called
the Bug House this morning. I got the message that Don had retired,
and Bill the mechanic was no longer working there.

Don has been my Car Psychiatrist for ten years.
It feels like I lost my therapist unexpectedly today.
To go on the road without him feels uncomfortable.
The EG Mobile felt like she wanted to be tinkered with before this trip.
I generally bring her in before seasonal changes and Holidays.

On top of this, I discovered today that I could no longer download transactions
using Quicken 2002,
The man at the bank helped me work out some transfers over the phone.

I told Gil about all the things that I could not find.
He said that I lost three things but I was likely going to have
six new good things happen. Good coaching from a member of the Rodriguez Family,.
my adopted farming family.

When I walked by Kim, she had strawberries in a box on the ground.
They were the last food of the day,
and not anything she would keep till her next market
on Sunday.
She asked if I wanted any. I took two.

Then I went down to see Miguel, I saw him sweeping up a cherry.
I was awestruck. I had no idea the cherry season was here already.
Without saying anything, he went to the truck and returned with a small green carton of them.
He gave them to me. He said that May is the normal Cherry time.
How time flies. Where have I been?

I was very hungry. I stopped at Vons, and also got some crickets
for the frog that the Frog Lady of Seal Beach once gave me.

I felt like I needed some heavier protein.

As soon as I entered the store, I realized that I had a bunch of Dry Cleaning there to pick
up for the trip. I would have never remembered.
On top of this, I had dry cleaning from a month ago that I had totally forgotten
in cyberspace.

In the check out line, there was a man with a bunch of Passover-type foods,
Matzo Balls, Macaroons, and much more

I started up a conversation.

He did not look Jewish.

It made me think of Superbowl Sunday where everyone
has a party and loads up on chips and dips.

He said that he was having a Seder to keep the next generation involved.

It made me think that this was like the Passover Superbowl.
Everyone was getting set for the BIG SEDER tomorrow
night. It is a ritualized meal; Matzo Balls and Macaroons
are generally part of it. I hope the Seder gets him out of Egypt.

As he left, he said "Have a Good one to me!"
There were two young ladies working the cash register area,
one behind the counter and the other bagging.
The one repeated back to him
"Have a good one!"
and the other said "Have a Nice one!"
with some familiarity.

I said "Happy Passover" to him as he left.

It was all very enligtening,
I can just imagine all the things
I really need to do, if I had my wits about me now.

Time to put some laundry in,
and head for bed.

Thanks for listening.

Your Enchanted Gardener,
Leslie
