Social Security Ruling Regarding Applicant's Past
Relevant Work

The Commissioner of Social Security has published
notice of Social Security Ruling 05-1c. This ruling is
based on the Supreme Court's decision in Barnhart v.
Thomas, 520 U.S. 20 (2003), which held that an
individual who remains physically and mentally able to
perform his or her past relevant work may be found not
disabled, without the need for the Social Security
Administration to investigate whether that previous
work exists in the national economy.
