PSORIASIS Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease marked by scaly and inflammatory characteristics. Syed et al17. performed a double-blind study to evaluate the clinical efficacy and tolerability of topical Aloe vera extract (0.5%) skin cream. Sixty patients topically applied this medication 3 times daily, 5 consecutive days a week for a maximum of 4 weeks. Patients were examined on a weekly basis. The study was performed over 16 weeks with 12 months of follow-up on a monthly basis. The treatment was well tolerated by all the patients, with no adverse drug-related symptoms and no dropouts. By the end of the study, the Aloe vera extract cream had cured "25 out of 30 patients (83.3%) compared to the placebo cure rate of 2 out of 30 patients (6.6%)." Additionally, there was an 82.8% clearing of the psoriatic plaques in the Aloe vera treatment group compared to 7.7% in the placebo users.

According to a double-blind study that enrolled 60 men and women with mild to moderate symptoms of psoriasis, Aloe vera cream may be helpful for this chronic skin condition.15 Participants were treated with either topical Aloe vera extract (0.5%) or a placebo cream, applied 3 times daily for 4 weeks. Aloe treatment produced significantly better results than placebo, and these results were said to endure for almost a year after treatment was stopped. The study authors also reported a high level of complete "cure," but what exactly they meant by this was not reported clearly.
More Info from the same study:
A controlled, double-blind study published in 1996 in Tropical Medicine and International Health found that aloe vera was very effective in the treatment of psoriasis. By the end of the 16-week study, the cream with aloe vera extract caused a significant clearing of psoriasis in 25 of 30 patients, compared to 2 out of 30 with the placebo.
