Correcting assumptions

Saturday, the 22nd of February, 2025 -
In the book: “The Four Agreements” anyone can see: “The Third Agreement” (in the fourth chapter): “Don’t Make Assumptions.”
As this writer has adopted all these agreements over the course of the previous estimated twenty years - now on some occasions - he has realized how some people continue to make assumptions - even when they say they live by these same four agreements. The challenge is in unconsciously assuming a shared meaning of certain words and terms. This particular assumption can go somewhat undetected - especially when there are no adverse consequences. However - if the individual who makes this assumption acts on it or attempts to justify their line of thinking based on their unconscious assumption then that become more evident!
How can this error be brought to light in the right way?
One approach is to do share a three-part “Relating Exercise” with the individual:
“Tell me something you think we agree on;
Tell me something you want me to know;
Tell me something you like about me.”
