Eco Art: Two Collages by Mayah .....

Making art several times a week keeps me sane during stressful times.

At least once a year, fellow artist and friend LFIRE sends me some of her collages,
with instructions for me to alter them or cut them up to make art of my own.

I liked this collage of hers so much,
particularly the blue-green colors that remind me of the ocean.
I decided to leave the collage as is, with the exception of
adding the image of the shark,
purposefully placed parallel to the yellow-orange strip
of circles in the lower left corner.

My favorite local thrift store just recently reopened;
I found this great wooden frame, complete with matting, and the collage fits perfectly!

This Eco Art started with the frame--
I found it at the same thrift store as the one above.
The opening in the fanciful mat board is small--
only about 4" X 3".
I searched through all of the 4" x 6" postcards I've made
(over 100 of them now!) these past months,
looking for one that seemed compatible
with the frame and mat's color and theme--
plants and birds--and found this one of a hawk.
The hawk image is from a small paperback bird book;
the green background is made of recycled magazine images.
It's hard to tell from the photo,
but the postcard sits down about 1/2" from the frame's glass,
giving nice depth to the image.

"Eco Art by mayah" utilizes recycled, reused, and earth-friendlier materials whenever possible.
