Despite the complexity, high cost and ethical side, surrogate motherhood becomes more and more popular. This is not surprising, because the services of a surrogate mother are the only way for some couples to become parents of their biological child. When people dream of babies for years and even decades, no difficulties can stop them. In recent years, such services in Ukraine have become quite popular – on average, about 2,500 children are born from surrogate mothers in the country. Often, their biological parents are foreigners. Why is Ukrainian surrogacy so attractive? There are two reasons – a legal side and a favorable price.
The price of such services is high in any country, but in Ukraine, it is 2-3 times lower than, for example, in the USA. The law does not regulate the remuneration, so the price can vary greatly from one private clinic to another. But how much does surrogacy in Ukraine cost on average? Usually, it ranges from 8 to 20 thousand dollars.
Hoping to save money, some people find surrogacy mothers on their own, without contracts and professional intermediaries. Unfortunately, they often stumble across dishonest women who neglect their pregnancies and even extort money from intended parents. Choosing a clinic, future parents take care of both their peace of mind and the health of their future child.
Under a surrogacy contract, biological parents pay all the costs associated with the procedure: IVF, drugs, monthly payments to a host mother for food and clothing. With multiple pregnancy, the sum increases by about 2.5 thousand dollars. Also, the parents pay for all health examinations connected with pregnancy and childbirth. Unsuccessful attempts of IVF and failed pregnancies (miscarriage, missed abortion) also count. However, such cases are not so frequent, as Ukrainian women have good health and reproductive functions. This is why surrogacy in Ukraine so attractive.
In the country, biological parents do not need to undergo the procedure of adopting their own child. They can immediately receive a birth certificate, where they are listed as parents. This is absolutely legal, and a surrogate mother cannot claim a child. The Ukrainian law also does not require any additional confirmation.
All mentioned above significantly reduces paperwork and guarantees biological parents that their child belongs to them by law.
If you decide to resort to the services of a surrogacy mother, then consider the choice of a clinic carefully. The best option is where an individual approach is combined with the interests of both parties.
