Fontana California is motor vehicle heaven. In the decades after World War II Fontana precast electrical accessory action took place at the drag racing strip which was a prominent part of the NHRA circuit. Known as Fontana International Dragway, it drew daredevil drivers from all over the continental United States and beyond. It went out of business in the late 1960s and was replaced by the NASCAR Fontana Raceway's NHRA sanctioned strip in 2006. The NASCAR Raceway in Fontana, known as the Auto Club Speedway, is also world-renowned and brings top-notch competition from around the world to compete every year.

Also, one of the most famous collections of automobiles - Ro Val's Automobile Museum - was founded in Fontana. It was home to many classic autos of the 1920s and 1930s, including scandalous Hollywood film star Fatty Arbuckle's oversize vehicle. The Ro Val collection is now on display at Harrah's casino in Las Vegas. Fontana is not only famous for its automotive attractions: the notorious Hell's electrical supplier in uae Angels motorcycle gang was founded here in 1948!

Fontana is located in the center of the Inland Empire area of southern California. Blown by the strong, dry, and hot Santa Ana winds which come scorching out of the Mojave Desert through the Cajon Pass in the San Gabriel Mountains, Fontana is a bedroom community for commuters to Los Angeles and other cities. The city was founded in 1913 in an area of chicken ranches, vineyards, and citrus orchards, at the junction of several railroad lines and on the legendary U.S. Route 66.

The convenient transportation facilities led to the construction of the Henry J. Kaiser steel mill during the Second World War, which in turn encouraged explosive population growth and turned Fontana into a major industrial area, manufacturing precast electrical accessory and other high tech items used in burgeoning southern California industry. The 2000 census gave the city of Fontana a population of 130,000, but that figure has increased by over 50,000 in the last eight years as a result of new residential developments, making Fontana one of the fastest growing cities in the state.

The original chicken ranches which dotted the Fontana area have long been replaced by distribution centers for precast concrete electrical accessory and other manufacturers which are shipped in from Long Beach and Los Angeles seaports and then carried by truck across the country.

Fontana is located at the intersection of several major highways, in particular, the San Bernadino Freeway and Interstates 10 and 210 and 15, which puts it in easy driving range of the famous beaches, mountain ski resorts, and lakes of Southern California. It is also home to the Fontana Days Five Kilometer Run and Half-Marathon, which is considered the fastest half marathon on earth.
