LFIRE and I often exchange art. We have an understanding that we can alter, take apart, rip up, reuse, or otherwise cannibalize each other's art in order to make something new out of it.
About twice a year, for my birthday and for the Holidays, LFIRE snail-mails me large boxes filled with "junk"---many artists call it "ephemera" but "good junk" it is to me---to be utilized in my art. She often includes collages she has made, with instructions for me to use these collages for "parts" to be made into new Eco Art.
Last year's Holiday box contained several of LFIRE's cast off collages. One of them struck me in particular; I really liked the left hand side of it and wanted to keep it pretty much intact. I also liked the saying that was on the right hand side of the collage...so, I cut off the right side of the collage, cut out the saying and adhered it to the left side of the collage, enhancing it with ink. Then I added some paper-and-ink hearts to the collage.
I went searching around for a frame for the new joint LFIRE-mayah creation, and found this great frame that LFIRE had gifted to me several years ago, that I'd forgotten all about. The frame has door handle parts that LFIRE added to it. The collage was too big to put behind the frame's opening without visually losing too much of it, so I decided to mount the collage onto the outside of the frame instead. Voila! I really really like this!! Thank you LFIRE!

"The Details" Co-Creation by LFIRE and mayah(c)2019 Collage 8.5" X 10.5" mounted on cardboard backing
A second collaboration utilizing another of LFIRE's collages. This time I cut off the left-hand side of the collage, added hand embroidery around the edges of all of the collage pieces, and added one button (lower left). Mounted on recycled cardboard.
