Eco Art Recycled X 3 by Mayah .....

Every now and then I take apart an old piece of Eco Art and make something new with it.

This art piece has gone through several transformations.

Originally, the flowers were from an advertisement--you can see here magazine advertisement flowers, in 3 separate segments. I cut them out, glued them onto cardboard, layered the 3 images over each other, and then glued them onto a cardboard backing and made a refrigerator magnet out of them (I don't have a photo of the original magnet--lost somewhere on some old computer?) I was surprised to find the same flower photos used in a magazine advertisement a few weeks ago--I cut them out and you see them here. The original ad was many years ago in a completely different magazine. I can only figure that the photos must be stock photos on the internet somewhere and more than one advertiser has used them over the years.

The magnet was hanging on the 'frig for many years. The light from the kitchen skylight faded the ink of the magazine flowers, so in 2015 I kept the magnet intact but painted over the flowers with acrylic paint.

This year, tired of the faded magnet backing, the painted flowers were taken off of the cardboard backing and placed onto RHIMAX (100% post-consumer recycled) paper backing, three sturdy layers thick, with a scrap of burlap paper in the background and hand-embroidery around the edges. Now, as a placard, this art piece hangs on the wall with a hanger made of jute. I must admit, I like this incarnation the best!
