Never give up.

It is a special joy when I see Veronica Hernandez, an employee who works at the Anaheim Marriott Anaheim Convention Center when I come up for the annual Natural Products Expo.
I always make a special effort to extend kindness to the working staff at the hotels and convention center.
I am often exhausted at day's end. For convenience, I park at the Marriot.
One year, I was pulling out of the driveway. I was driving slowly in my 68 VW Van I call the #EGMobile.
I was feeling a bit lonely to tell you the truth.
All the sudden, I heard a big scream!
I put on the brakes! What was going on!
Then a Woman came up to me! She was all excited to see me!
It turned out it was a woman I now know, Veronica Hernandez.
I'm always walking around with plants in my cart that I'm allowed to have with me because I have a handicap sticker on it. Otherwise, you can't have a rolling cart at #ExpoWest.
That year, Veronica got all excited when I introduced her to a snippet of peppermint scented geranium from South Africa, from my home garden.
She was so excited by the fragrance that I gave her the vase with the cut plant.
Years had passed. She wanted to let me know that she gave the snippet to her daughter who had planted it. It was growing.
A number of times since then, I run into Veronica. I just saw her at the Climate Collaborative launch.
March 8, 2017.
This was one of the most difficult years for me to get to the #ExpoWest!
My van was is in the shop five times in the last four days before I left. Moments before I took off, I was so excited that I slammed the side panel door and broke the hinge. With the help of a housemate Georgia Vlahos I was able to close the door and took a chance that it would not fall off!
It was an hour before the closing of the shop of my back up car mechanic! He helped me lock the door in place. I went up to Anaheim unable to open the side panel and take out my things, except with a lot of difficulty.
I had to rely on friends to get things out.
The first day at the show was an incredible event where the whole industry with taking a stand on reversing climate warming through doing what we can humanly do.
I agree, we go through waves of hot and cold naturally on our planet as well as in our emotional well being, but I'm in the camp that also believes we can have an impact on lowering pollution and regenerating agriculture through soil building. These practices are life-affirming.
On that first day, my bell was still being rung in my head. I wasn't fully present, but I was present enough to have my spirit lifted by seeing my old friend Veronica. She was working at the Climate Event.
Sadly, That plant died, but our friendship lives.
I did have enough energy and a bit of confidence to plant dreams with the keynote speaker, Paul Hawken.
Please reach out when you are feeling discouraged. You were born on purpose. Life needs you. Reach out, especially on the days when you are hurting.
