Repairing the Gut after parasites by mizmac .....

Healing the holes that the parasites caused in my gut.

The parasites literally ate holes in my gut and I developed leaky gut. Symptoms were multiple food sensitivities, inflammation which showed up as achy muscles and stiff joints and loose stools. After research I devised this protocol:
I went on a bone broth fast of 2-3 days. I also ate popcorn during the fast so that I stimulated digestive enzymes from the saliva (chew well) and so that peristalsis was kept going. I didn't want to completely shut down my digestion. Just give it a rest and give it some healing foods.
I also took 6 capsules of activated charcoal at night on an empty stomach. This was to rid my gut of any toxicity. My parasite removal protocol consisted of some toxic herbs and I wanted to remove any residue. The charcoal turned my stools black but it was not a cause for concern. I took the charcoal for about 10 days.
I also eliminated all supplements and as many medications as possible. I needed to start from as clean a slate as possible.
After the bone broth fast of 3 days, I started adding in cooked veggies to my diet. One new food a day so that I could track any reactions. I also continued to drink bone broth for about 20 days. It has collagen which repairs the gut lining. It is also a great base or stock for soups.
I continued adding in one new food a day, trying to stay with cooked veggies and well cooked meats. I tried to keep raw foods out of the diet for about 10 days. They are harder to digest.
After about 5 days, I added in capsules of probiotics. I also added in Betaine HCL, a stomach acid. I did a test with my naturopath that showed that it was an issue for me. I am over 60 and stomach acid diminishes with age. The probiotics and the stomach acid helped eliminated flatulence (farts). I had to experiment with the dosage on the stomach acid and ended up taking it just once a day. Too much and I had urinary incontinence at times. That may just be me. I did some research on the probiotics and bought some that did not contain some types of lactobacillus. I found research from Dave Asprey of Bulletproof that a few types of lactobacillus were correlated with weight gain. I don't have the specifics at hand as I am on a borrowed computer and away from home. I will update this in a few weeks and add the specific varieties when I return home.

So far I have found that I had reactions to ginger and sugar. I eliminated the night shade family and have yet to re-introduce them to my diet. I was advised by my naturopath to eliminate wheat entirely from my diet. There are over 300 clinical studies that show that it is harmful. See GreenMedinfo for more information.
So my process is ongoing but I have had success with it. My digestion and elimination are nearly perfect and I am eating a fairly wide variety of foods= organic of course.
Hope this helps you in your quest for health.
Cheers.
