This one was fun to do: after embroidering it, glued the photo onto a piece of recycled cardboard and put it on top of layers of colored bubble wrap inside of a recycled plastic container (can't even remember what was originally in the container--some kind of small electronic some-thing-or-other?). This one is hanging in my bathroom window as a sort-of light catcher.

Originally I had printed out six orchid photos on one piece of semi-gloss paper, each about 3.5" square, but I messed one up so there were 5 orchid photos to work with--learned that the semi-gloss photos collect finger smudges and the ink scratches off easily, so have to coat them with acrylic glaze before handling them.

This last one has darker embroidery floss than Orchid #4 (actually, the same shades as in the original Eco Art Orchid) and instead of a green running stitch around the edge has a solid backstitch in tan thread to match the matting. The matting originally came in a frame I bought from a thrift store, so is reused. I looked all over my house and can't find the frame; probably used it for another art piece that I also can't find! The background polka dot paper was hand-painted by a friend. I'd like to frame this one in a dark coppery brown frame if I can find one.

This is the end of my orchid challenge (for now!)

Eco Art by mayah utilizes reused, recycled, and earth-friendlier materials.
