Food For Thought by Chef JeM .....

"To kill an error is as good a service as, and sometimes even better than, the establishing of a new truth or fact."[1]

I just discovered this quote by Charles Darwin. (First time I'm quoting Darwin!)

I happened to see (and then note) this quote for the first time while starting to view:
"Beef: The REAL Health Food", Peter Ballerstedt
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsYp263W5sg&app=desktop

Peter's scrutiny of the conflicts within the United States food policies is superb! (I wish I could hire Peter to do the same with many other issues. Plus he's occasionally a little funny! ; ~ )

My main intention here is that Peter exposes the lack of rigor in the so called "scientific" thinking that has prevailed in human nutrition over the past fifty years or so. However, it also exposes the same lack among too many Americans who took the declarations on Dietary Guidelines as the truth! I am still amazed that the low-fat scam (that became the biggest health disaster) was believed as extensively and as long as it was!

I also appreciate Peter's entire page here:

As I mentioned at the start of this blog post "Truth of Self" is the only place where I have quoted Darwin. Consequently this is the only blog site that I have where I can "follow-up" with another Darwin reference as follows.:

"... The way in which the mind of the Hellenes worked in its awakening became the content of a drama which after millennia of preparation could be enacted only once in the course of history. In facing the problem of consciousness as the focus of our view of history we find several trends in modern historians who point to the necessity of such a method.

Oswald Spengler brought such a viewpoint to his doctrine of the various epochs of culture as living organisms. In his Decline of the West he aimed in his way at a history of phenomena and symptoms 'that is entirely free from the method of Darwinism—that is, of systematic natural science based on causality.”:
