Day 5 - Here we go!!! by caa522 .....

Overall day is pretty uneventful. Not much physical stuff other than general fatigue. Focus is on keeping my mind off of food.

Last night I thought I was going to go right to bed but that didn't happen. I ended up sleeping after midnight. The left side of my neck was sore and I started to get a headache. Kinda like when you get a tension headache. I did a couple of things which kept me awake longer. I did a coffee enema to see if that would clear out any toxins. Also had some Himalayan sea salt with warm water and Fulvic/Humic - Ionized minerals. Didn't feel any of those things made enough of a significant change to notice. I'm still glad I did them since I know I was doing something good to assist my body whether or not the results of its effects were notable. My meditation was interesting. i thought that all that head pressure/headache I had maybe built up excess energy and that I just needed to clear and release stuff. It was a great meditation! i felt an energetic presence I know as Divine. I've been meditating consistently for about three years now and I know this energetic sensation well. I feel it mostly in and around my head. More familiar terminology with be at the crown and 3rd eye.

After meditating I thought about the great many spiritual teachers that have used fasting to awaken and elevate their spirituality. It's quite appropriate that it's lent and my initial goal was to fast will culminate on Easter Sunday (2 days away). I'm approaching this fast holistically. I want to reset my eating habits and heal my body as well as deepen my relationship with Christ. This couldn't be the more perfect time to do this.

I am hoping I can shift my attention with focusing less on the body (symptoms of fasting) and more towards the spiritual. I went through my lessons from "A Course In Miracles" and meditated as usual to silence my mind/ego and align with Source.

Later around noon I tried to work in my backyard and pull some weeds and after doing this for 20 minutes under the blazing sun I felt so tired and got short of breath. I decided to get back in bed.

6pm
I'm feeling a bit cranky and emotionally weak. Discouraging thoughts creeping in. I need to deal with this swiftly and change my thoughts and occupy my mind with getting into a task or project. Keeping busy is a good way to deal with this. Giving up is NOT an option.

Oh I know other visitors want to probably know if I lost any weight. Day 1 lost 2 pounds; Day 2 lost 2 pounds; Day 3 stayed the same; Day 4 lost 1.5 pounds. So total of 5.5 pounds lost so far over 5 days.

Other things to mention: Skin continues to feel softer and more supple. I started with clear skin and had 2 real small breakouts on my face. Tongue gets coated white which I just scrape off. My joints feel pretty good. I think my inflammation is under control. Don't feel any tendonitis. I do quite a bit of foam rolling to loosen up muscles and I'm not feeling the kind of pain I usually do. Also I noticed I had scar that started to soften up. So great pluses.

Wow just reviewing the good things about fasting already makes me feel better. Woo hoo.

9pm
I decided to go get an hour body massage. Ohhh I needed that. A great reward to cap off 5 days of fasting. I feel so relaxed.

Five days has been the longest I've ever done water fasting. So I am breaking my record. yaaaay.

Goodbye day 5 and Hello Day 6!
