Day One of Prep, the Fast begins Friday by Cbilstein .....

My beginning goal with the fast is going to be 50-70 pounds. I plan to do a full 14 days with just water, and then move to a juice fast for another 14 days.

So today I start what might be a very difficult journey for me. I have water fasted before with limited success. I think I made it 7 days once with nothing but a few small handfuls of trail mix. That got me past the hard cravings you experience on day 3. I should clarify that today I am starting the prep, which is of fruit and water. I had some apples and now will move to softer fruit like grapes because they are easy on the digestive system. By the end of the day tomorrow I will be fully into the fast so we can call this T minus day 2 and counting until the fast officially begins.

A little background on me is I am a man, aged 47 who is severely overweight. I weigh close to 350 pounds, but will post my official starting weight on the morning of the fast. I think you can wait until Friday. Let's see, I am married with one boy at home. I think I will leave names out of this for privacy reasons. He is my rock although he doesn't even know it yet. I'm doing this for all the totally selfish reasons such as being able to tie my shoes without almost loosing consciousness and being able to get the stupid knot in the middle of my sneakers, sitting at any table or booth in a restaurant with my family without being embarrassed that I just don't fit. How about fitting into my cloths better so I am not so ashamed at work. Those are all good reasons, but the better ones are to improve my health so I feel good about myself. Get healthy so I can stick around to see my son graduate, go to college and get married some day. Preferably in that order!

Now I live a fairly active life. We are always going camping, fishing and I hunt every fall. I just have to work harder to compensate for being so overweight. I work hard even when it hurts to bend. I get down on my knees at work even though I am so ashamed to have to fight so hard to get back up. See, I make good money, but I am so afraid that if I show weakness or complain just once I will wind up losing my job. I wouldn't have to worry so much if I could drop say 150 pounds. Over time of course! My beginning goal with the fast is going to be 50-70 pounds. I plan to do a full 14 days with just water, and then move to a juice fast for another 14 days. I think by then I can see the first 50-70 drop off. The rest will come much slower over time. I will keep using water fasting to help keep my progress heading in the right direction.

OK, I could talk all night, but I don't want to bore you. I will post again in a day or so and be sure to post any particulars the morning I start the official fast. Start placing your bets now to see how far I go. I don't like to quit so....
