Your World As An Onion by #29621 .....

The onion as an exercise in "food for thought".

I like referring to food metaphorically to create a mental picture in analogies that extend certain concepts. I especially like using the onion this one in regards to the world and it's system.

Imagine a yellow onion with its outer brown skin. Imagine that the
outer skin has become so dry that it is falling off of the onion. Originally it was a skin that was fully attached to the whole of the onion. If the
onion is fresh picked out of the ground then the outer skin could
possibly be included in some of the food preparation (like making stock). More commonly we find previously picked onions that have had its outer dried skin removed.

Now imagine that the world is like an onion with a world system that operates on the outer surface layer. In it's early stage that layer may have served a purpose, possibly protecting the whole. However, that has eventually dried out and begun to detach from the whole. It is now so detached that it could "fall off", any moment. What keeps it attached?
Could it be that there are those who have attached themselves to this dried out system? People who don't realize that there is a new "outer skin" right underneath?

It might now be a perfect analogy, however it got me thinking!
If you don't happen to like the analogy of an onion then what other vegetable might you use? ("Call any vegetable!" fz)
