The Nano structures in the last photo and my editing

The ONLY thing was added was colored filters, not textures at ALL. I used Pixlr's curves messing with the red and green. I did use the emboss to make what was in the clear "worms" to pop out, but the nano structures below are there. The big question is....HOW and WHY are they there...
