The Value in Seeds and the Value in Money

Every time I go banking in my neighborhood, I have this vision that I day I will go in to make a deposit, and I will be offered Heirloom Seeds as a gift. Eventually, the bank will become an Heirloom Seed Bank.

This idea was indelibly emblazoned in my mind after visiting the Petaluma Seed Bank where I first met Paul Wallace, one of the main organizers of the National Heirloom Expo, a few days before the 2nd Annual National Heirloom Expo. The third Annual National Heirloom Expo is September 10-11-12 2013, during what in my tradition are known as the Ten Days of Awe.

The focus that year was winning Prop 37. I believe that we came out
victorious, enven though at the ballot box, the the position that said
do not Label GMO's in California got more votes in the ballot box.

Prop 37 was like a billiard game. that sent the energy for Labeling to many places, including Washington State, where it is on the ballot in 2013.


My Friends at Eden Foods produce one of my favorite props. It is a pencil made out of old dollar bills. I say that at least there is that much value in money today. We can make a pencil out of it.

Last summer, I had the opportunity to spend an afternoon with a money expert, Stephen Gomes. He painted a picture that confirmed the value of money and the value of seeds.

He is involved with various projects to help indigenous American Indians plant heirloom seeds. He also travels around the world where he teaches MBA in places in the Mideast where kids drive vehicles worth $100,000 or more but get tired of them.

We are banking on a future of exchange with money that has no ground below it.

Heirloom Seeds are the real ground for an economy that has value.
