My experiences during days 36-40 of fast
Date: 2/22/2013 10:38:16 PM ( 11 y ago)
I had more relief (regarding my problem) on the 36th day however it quickly turned to hours of cramping and loose stools. The next 3 days, I had several movements throughout each day and each time it felt like I was passing glass. I developed very large and painful hemmies. Early in the morning on day 40, I got up to urinate when blood started to just drip from me. I knew I needed to stay off my feet so I did. The fact that I neglected to use enemas early in my fast was still causing me problems. As I write this, it is the 5th day after the 40 and I am in more pain than before. I still bleed when I use the bathroom and the throbbing pain has kept me off my feet to this day.
I researched my problem and it is a common consequence to not having a bm for over 30 days. I have internal fissures which can't heal because the soups are aggravating my colon. I don't want to eat anything bulky so I am going to have to switch to another (short) water fast just so my colon can heal. I caused a miserable problem for myself which I will be dealing with for the next several weeks. Anyone thinking about fasting must not make the mistake I did. I have a high tolerance to pain however I have cried over this particular pain every day this week. I have gotten no relief from it. My face looks puffy and swollen because of the introduction of salt. I could actually feel a strange sensation in my tissues as I was getting puffier. There is a lot of sodium in soup! I should have kept eating the low sodium kind but alas I did not. I will check back in a week from now with a final weigh-in after my fluid retention diminishes.
