I just made my first call to Fungi Perfecti. I spend last night watching various videos about Paul Stamets, the founder. I am very moved by some of the videos. As Your Enchanted Gardener, I have always thought it was a special day when I would find a mushroom growing on our property here in San Diego. They hold a special fascination!

I am amazed after watching some of these videos, that it has taken me so long to get on the bandwagon about Fungi, ii.e, Mushrooms.

Last night I watched one video from TED MEX where Paul told the story of the remarkable recovery of his mother from Stage 4 Breast Cancer with a mushroom called Turkey Tail added to a regimen of recommended pharmaceutical drugs. Her doctor said she was one of the most intense cases she had seen in her practice.

I also watched some remarkable time laspse photography. You can see some of that below. Makes me want to get a camera that can do time lapse photography.

First Bowl of Mushroom Ginger Soup Yesterday

Yesterday, for the first time, I had a delicious bowl of mushroom Ginger Soup, a recipe by Dr Daphne Miller MD. She promotes Food as Medicine. I found that recipe after hearing about her from Dr. Weil, who also said he took Mushrooms and had not had a cold or flu in six years. He also talked abut other supplements he takes, but this is the big one that seems to be speaking to me now.

I feel like the Mushroom Kingdom is wanting to make its presence known in my life.

This afternoon I asked Nadine, who is in search of Healthier Pizza Ingredients, to make up the Dr. Daphne Miller Recipe for Mushroom Ginger Soup.

I was drawn to this after hearing Dr. Andrew Weil, in his keynote talk, Feb 1 at the Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine 10 Anniversary Conference, mention that he used mushrooms to protect his immune system.

Protecting my own immune system has been my quest for more than six weeks now. I have been feeling various Cold and light Flu symptoms.

Dr. Weil had gotten me excited when he mentioned books by Dr. Daphne Miller during his Keynote.

She wrote a book called "Jungle Effect," about indigenous foods.

She is coming out with a book called "Farmacology." I am very much interested in the connection between gut health and soil health.

I was looking up Dr Daphne Miller MD, a highly esteemed family practitioner.

i wanted to drive home a point that Dr. Weil said, about True Food....

Food is Medicine. Dr. Bernard Jensen, my spiritual mentor and an elder in the natural healing arts taught that. He always repeated what Hippocratis said. "Let Food be Thy Medicine."

Daphne gave a story I ran into on the Washington Post....about Drug misuse and the goodness in a Mushroom Ginger Recipe.

Today, Nadine made that soup for me. It was wonderful.

JUST NOW I WAS WRITING UP A BLOG ABOUT MARK BLUMENTHAL

Mark is doing remarkable work with the American Botanical Council.


I looked up the notes I wrote down when we were together.
