ABOUT THE "SPECIAL EXCEPTIONS" TO PROP 37.
VOTE YES ON 37 TO BEING WINNING BACK OUR SACRED SEEDS
GMO IS BEHIND THIS:
The bill as written, was written to help it pass. It is an important beginning.
Special Exemptions was not behind the bill that was worked on by very idealistic and practical folks who needed to get it through the state registrar. Passing 37 will begin to turn GE seeds around.
A few companies own all of our seeds, and do not want 37 to win.
Vote YES on 37.
A little info on the exemptions in the Prop, as this seems to be the only thing the NO camp can come up with...
Alcohol is not a food. All, the exemptions are highly regulated federally, so the bill was written to be legal in the state of California.
Also, meat and dairy won't be labelled because they are not directly genetically modified (even if they are feed GMO feed, as this would have been challenged heavily, possibly overturning the proposition-this was done to keep it legal in CA and the best chance to have it stand when voted in). If GMO salmon becomes available it will be labelled as it is GMO.
Basically, if it has GMOs it will be labelled. If they take them out of the product, no need for a label. If they are challenged about having GMOs in an unlabeled product, they have a chance to label it or change the product with out any repercussions.
All the rest is a ploy to make it seem more confusing.
