what will it take to win prop 37?
we need to pass prop 37. on a deeper level, we need to get to the source of the problem....the source is not "them," it is us. we have lost our beat with nature. we have allowed them and their ideas to take precedence in the world over the deepest dreams for our youth to grow strong. i want to see your deepest dreams growing now in the world. i want to see you flower.
it is time to grow a healthier pizza!
it is time to do what we can to educate washington about real food safety, but we cannot look to a handful of elect reps or the special interests that have their ear for the solution. the solution is in our hands. the solution is in a growing some "amber waves of grain' and some packets of heirloom seeds through the very act of gardening, and supporting local organic farmers, and a whole new generation of youth that need enrich our soil, we will return the american dream to its grassroots, and the prosperity so clearly in nature.
there was once an american hero named dr. harvey w. wiley m.d. who had a vision for a pure and just fda and usda. he motivated congress to pass a pure food and drug law that would have outlawed the conditions that prevail today. i am taking up the cause he and so many other voices foster for 'pure food' reform in america. the right to know is so very basic to this reform.
i want to repeat one paragraph from the article that steve hays published about the 7.5 million + 2 campaign:
wiley resigned in 1912. his resignation created hundreds of editorial comments. one cartoon reprinted in his book shows dr. wiley with uncle sam. an empty pair of shoes sit on the floor. the cartoonist said, “if the people exhibited the same persistence in looking after their interests that illegitimate business displays in looking after its interests, the things of which we complain would soon be brought to an end, and prosperity, like a tidal wave, would flood the land.” —the rocky mountain news, march 21, 1912. dr. wiley went on to work for good housekeeping magazine. he created the good housekeeping seal.
His spirit is surely s iling on the label gmos campaign.
dr. wiley once filled uncle sam’s shoes. today, i feel we all need to fill the shoes of uncle sam. we can’t look to congress to grapple with the facts. the work of dr. wiley continues. we are each sacred seeds. it’s time to plant your dream. we need heirloom seeds, and a new day where we grow more of our own food and support more local agriculture.

in the end i admit i’ve got my predictions too. as far as the battle on earth goes—the greed, inhumanity, and wars—it’s no contest. it can never match the passion of people participating with intention and clarity—if we add humane-ness with humanity, we win."
